Hi well we have just had a mini-disaster. DS ran the bath and forgot about it until it had flooded the bathroom and started coming through into the kitchen below. Had to get OH to turn off the electricity to the lights. He loosed one of our halogen ceiling lamps and out the water poured - some of which we have caught in a pan and some we have mopped up with towels.
DS was so remorseful he went outside crying (aged 12) so I must say he seems to be punishing himself! I got him to sort the washing and load one lot in the washing machine and empty 2 kitchen bins! I just hope he hasn't done any perm damage and the ceiling and bathroom laminate floor dries out okay.
Right - need to go and wash DD's hair and get her out the bath now. Got macaroni milk cooking in the oven for me. DS had a tin costing 92p and DD had a chicken sandwich with crisps so not too expensive. so cheap tea as long as OH doesn't blow the budget!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi guys
Well bought 2 new can openers - need to take the 2 broken ones back. So cost me nearly £10 culinaire ones but should get £5 back. This was an essential as couldn't take rice pudding today as couldn't get the tin open! So dinner cost me £2 instead of the 50p I planned! Also spent 46p on a mini milk for coffees at work. Should last all week tho.
Paid car parking today £2.20
Gave DS £5 for locker for the year - should have put this in my budget but forgot.
Took family to the cinema - pre-booked as DD treat. Was going to get drinks and popcorn but queue too long and not enough cash so gave DS £5 cash to buy pop corn between us. Unfortunately that means I need to get more cash out as otherwise have no parking money.
So total spend today was £9.98, £2, 46p, £2.20, £5 and £4.80!
So £24.44 spend of which I had budgeted £2.20!
I have more to do on my budgeting skills as well as pre-planning better!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I talked to the chemist re the interaction between the 2 tablets and he completely denied there would be any. I don't believe him tho. I still remember being on S***at and the chemists and doctors denying then that they would be addictive or make you worse and guess what.... they were withdrawn after high profile bad publicity!!
Yeah I don't really believe them... there's supposed to be no difference between brands either, but I don't get the proper effect if I have different ones. The non drowsy ones I've been cycled between are Loratedine, Cetirizine and Fexofenadine, so many ask your doc/chemist about them. Piriton is one of the drowsier ones apparently.savingholmes wrote: »I feel I have lost some of my mse way at the moment and need to relight the proverbial lightbulb!

I feel a bit the same, but then I also know that we don't have enough coming in against what's going out, and that makes it stressful, which makes you spend more -in my experience.
I applied for a 0% card but it was refusedNot sure what we're gonna do if we don't sell the house/get my DLA upped/something that increases income soon...

I actually realised I won a JJB £15 gift voucher too, so hopefully we can use that to replace his holey work shoes

Unfortunately struggle around where we live to get that collar size. When I stocked up for OH I was around 30 miles away from where we live at a massive Tesco. I'll bear it in mind tho.
I have realised I have just done our budget and put no money in for birthdays.... Traditionally I have paid for them thro free scratchcards, bingo amazon vouchers etc but not been as active on these recently so may struggle ooops. 3 family birthdays coming up! Oops including OH make that 4Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well today was quite a good day.
I paid the after school club the £90 I owed them.(budgeted)
I paid the school dinner money £10 (budgeted)
I let DS get some change costing me 20p in sweets (within discretionary spends)
So spent £100.20
Took another £30 out - so that I can give £20 as a birthday pressie at the weekend and pay my car parking bill - making up for the cash spent at the cinema the other day. Unfortunately that wasn't in my original budget but should have been.
So £30 over budget today....
Took rice pudding lunch in tho so pleased with myself for that. OH went out tonight and used my car so unfortunately that may bring forward my refuelling date - but will probably delay his so swings and round abouts...
Nearly at pay out level on one of my free scratchcards... can't wait LOL
Hope everyone else okayAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Writing it all down will def highlight your areas that need work. It is amazing how we can think we have budgetted to within an inch of our lives, but yet so much stuff comes along of a few ££ here and there which we hadn't considered.
Good luck with doing it - the longer you can write it down for, the more likely you are to budget for everything in due course.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Thanks hypno
At least I am on the way to getting back on track....
Today I took £60 out for hairdresser. Spent £35 on getting my hair coloured today. Got £25 left which will cover my cut next week ouch! (It is 9 weeks since the last time tho)
I think I will be able to save £27 that I had budgeted for OH's fuel tho so that will help with earlier overspends... He needs some money towards his hair cut tho Saturday - poss about £12....
Tonight the menu plan worked and I did take rice pudding to work. I did spend £1 on chocolate biscuits for at work.... but enough for several days...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi Gill
I agree. I am trying to be more honest about my actual spending rather than glossing over it. Hopefully over time it will make a difference!:money:
DD went to school as a ladybird today complete with face paint. She looked very cute and gorgeous. Unfortunately my 12 !!!!!! year old son found said face paints and got them over my carpet, sofa, the taps downstairs, the soap pump the sink!!! :eek:I was as mad as a hornet when I came home. It wasn't his - he didn't have permission and he was completely careless! And it is only day 1 of his summer holiday!!!
Luckily next week he is due to go to MIL with his sister. We can't wait just need a bit of break from them...!:o The week after we are on holiday with them then they are going to their grandparents for the week before coming back briefly and then going to MILs and so on....
Looking forward to all that peace - but worried DS will be really bored!. Apparently MIL may take them away on holiday with her in mid August so that could be fab... :j We wouldn't have to pay either...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
