Gosh, seems to be hard work finding a cleaner! How ironic though that she asked you how to clean the hob! She's the one who's supposed to be the professional! I defo wouldn't take her back and she sounds sloppy as well. People just don't take pride in their work anymore, what a shame.
Hope you get the other cleaner to come back or find someone better. Have you given feedback to the agency?

Hi Tirl - thanks for that. I haven't made the call yet - I think part of my rant was to psych myself up to doing it... Will ring tomorrow.

I did get a lot of washing done today and since it was blowing a gale outside it dried really well. Even the bottom mattress protector that takes days to dry dried within a couple of hours....

Made a very yummy tea. Got DS to peel some ordinary spuds while I peeled some sweet potatoes. I part boiled them and then roasted them and had them with grilled chicken, carrots, cabage, leeks. Very tasty. Got OH to hoover the lounge as he invited a couple of friends from his work round for an hour. I defrosted a cheesecake and decorated it with strawberries cut in half. It was yummy. I'd not met the couple before but they were very nice altho older than I expected...

    Hi guys

Well I just rang the agency and said that me and the cleaner yesterday wouldn't suit but I would be happy to have the cleaner from last week even if she can only do 2 hours once a fortnight. So that's now been agreed. At least this way I will get value for money - and she was a whole lot more professional which was good. So I need to pay the agency £24 for the hours already worked and in future their bit of the cost will be £15.17 per month (instead of the £26pcm if it had been 2 hours every week or £39pcm if it had been 3 hours every week). So its a money saving but at least I get a treat every 2 weeks of someone doing a proper clean of the kitchen, hall stairs and landing, downstairs loo, ensuite and the bathroom. The cleaner herself will get £13... (yesterday cost me £20 to the cleaner and I wasn't happy). I will need to organise getting a key cut.

Have also now got a community physio appoint for DD's feet - as she has been complaining again about pain. It is the first week of October.

Finally persuaded OH to go to the doctor - he's been having pains on exertion for the last 2 years!!! I went with him - and mentioned 3 other health conditions he'd missed out!! They are sending him for heart tests within the next two weeks - I've also asked them to test him for wheat intolerance and arthritis!! He's having full blood tests too - partly to test for another condition. They will also do a lung function test. We've got to go back to get the results the first week of October. A bit scared about all that - but its better to know - and his cousin died of a heart attack/high blood pressure in January. She checked OH's blood pressure and it was fine which is good to know...

I made him omelette and salad for dinner. I'm having a smoothie now for breakfast as I didn't get round to it before the appointment. I am planning to just nip into town and take something back to the shop that DS bought before his camp... He bought the wrong size bless him.

Hi guys - Well I got a £14.99 refund which is always nice. I spotted a long sleep top in New L00k for £7.99 in turquoise so I got that while I was out. I also put a cheque from DD's birthday earlier in the year in the bank for her. I then nipped to Boots and got and used a load of £5 voucher - for what I bought it was cheaper to buy things individually get a £5 reward and use it on the next item than even their 3 for 2 offer. So I think quite a few people will be getting makeup for xmas LOL! I spent £27.50 and got 7 items and still have vouchers left for another day...

I also had a look round TK Maxx but resisted... I then got a phone call from DS - he'd been waving an old metal padlock around and it got away from him and hit DD on the head making her bleed. He was petrified both for her and because of what he'd done bless him and had cried his heart out by the time I got home about 5 minutes later. Because he was so shocked and upset - she was milking it for all it was worth and still crying... He had given her a cold compress which I was impressed with. I got them both to get changed - gave her a clean wet compress and put my frozen peas away and then took them to get a McFlurry...

DS is now campaigning for me to take him to Mr As and since I want more chocolate I'm giving in LOL. I've got friends from work coming round tomorrow - it would be nice to have some nibbles in...

  • Went to Mr As and bought both confectionary and stationery and some ham and noodles... But also bought DS a sweatshirt, jumper and black jeans. Cheered me up tho as he is now large mens just because of the length of his arms!! And he is now in 33 inch length trousers... He looked really slim in what I bought him - so think some of the muffin top effect is because his clothes are too tight and too short bless him... £32 for 3 items not too bad

  • Hi guys - well meeting with friends from work was really nice today - they were really lovely - and encouraged me to take a bit longer to get better rather than rushing back... I am back to 3 diclofenic again now I am doing more! Counting down the hours again a little between painkillers - but I feel like my life's on hold while I'm off sick - as I feel guilty for anything I do and guilty for anything I don't. Is that just the nature of womanhood?

I also took DS to Sp)rtsD!r3ct and got him a zip up fleece to wear over his jumper when he's cold for now for ... £12.99 (he doesn't do proper coats) and also got a top for xmas for him £17.99 - so now I've started his xmas shop too which is cool. He's now used up this months money for collecting DD as he paid half of one of the tops I bought him yesterday and he bought something else with the other £10.

We then got a naughty chinese...

I'm trying not to feel guilty as I have put money for clothes and food out/treats in my budget as well as a gifts budget. I get paid Friday which is fab... Not sure how much I'll get yet but because of the tax money we are doing reasonably well even tho OH still hasn't moved the £1K across I asked him to....

Hi SH, hope you are listening to your body and taking it easy. Another thought is to set fewer targets for the day and then you give yourself a chance of getting them done and then you don't beat yourself up. Have a good weekend.

popping by to see how you're doing, and find that you're still doing too much. Made me laugh about leaving 'traps' for the cleaner.
My sister was never happy with the cleaning company she had, but I found what they did was fine. But then her standards are higher than mine.
    Glad you've got it sorted.

Hi Lucielle - you are not wrong - I do push myself to do too much - having said that I am up about 12-14 hours a day - and am in bed and mostly asleep the rest. I'm still struggling to get up in a morning and only woke up today at 11.40. I had gone to bed around 1am tho.... I'm worried my body clock won't reset until I am back at work or doing more exercise... so think if I go back to work on a phased return I will ask to go back in the afternoons as it suits my body clock better.

My abdomen still can't cope with any pressure on it...:( If I put even elasticated trousers on - I will pretty much have to change 5 minutes later as it is too uncomfortable. I did manage to wear a skirt for a couple of hours but mostly I a still in dresses. I even find the pressure from a bra uncomfortable even tho logically it is too high up for it to be relevant... I miss my jeans :rotfl:... and its getting cold! I've realised that even my handbag gently swinging on my hip is enough to cause me pain for hours later  (I couldn't understand where the pain was coming from then suddenly had a realisation!) - I'd let it swing there as it set the pedometer off in my phone as you do :rotfl:

Its very MSE :money:of me to want my money's worth tho. I was so annoyed with that cleaner - I found so many things she hadn't done properly but felt sorry for her so just said to the agency that we didn't suit. By the time I've paid the agency I'm paying £9.50 an hour - I want good quality for that. I've also managed cleaning services contract at work in the past and I set them a high standard too :rotfl:This experience actually made me feel better about my DS's standard of cleaning as he was better than the first one and about the same standard but quicker than the second...

I've just arranged to meet a friend for coffee next Monday. Still not heard any more about OH's ECG appointment... Let's hope that goes well but it would be really good to be able to put that to bed as a worry rather than it being a fear in the background.

Need to sort out dentist appointments for me and the kids... but need to get signed up somewhere first

I think - in line with Lucielle's comments - I will focus on:
    Having breakfast
    Getting dressed etc
Meeting the children at school (walk
    Making tea
Perhaps see if OH will go out for a drink with me later
