i thought great! a product i loved for free.
however, returning from work this evening i received this email

Dear Lucy,

You recently ordered a bikini from our website. Due to an internal error it was put through the shopping cart as costing zero pounds. We have now rectified the situation so if you still wish to own the bikini you will have to order it through the website again. Thank you.

Best Wishes,

Doc Black Ltd

what are my rights?
this was their mistake, which they have admitted.
and i received a confirmation email.
are they not now obliged to send me this product for the price stated?
I'm sure i remember a story of a woman buying a camera for 99p instead of £99

None ..... your contract is formed at dispatch time - check their t&cs to see what it says.

it is highly unlikely they have to honour this, in their terms and conditions it will normally state that the contract is formed upon dispatch of the products, by doing this it gives companies the chance to spot human errors where a cashier would notice at a till

OK, thankyou, i was under the impression the contract was formed at the point of receiving confirmation. as i currently work within the retail sector, i know hat often errors like this will be honored as a "good will gesture" then the problem with be rectified to prevent future mistakes

Nope, because the internet is automated imagine if 100's of people all noticed what you noticed and they had purchased it it would be a business breaking mistake for the retailer and unfortunate. What you said about a retailer doing it as a gesture of good will at a till is often correct but at worst you have one customer that gets the good price before it is amended.

    Ah...
"honoured as a goodwill gesture" is something different.

    You asked about your rights.

Whoa there, take it easy will you.

You asked a question and I was simply pointing out that a previous poster had already given you the answer, perhaps you had missed it. The only one with an attitude is you.
