Thank you everyone for the kind wishes, he’s going back today. He is going to work but says is he is in the office so taking it easy (hopefully he is!).
I did another another shop at l@dl yesterday and spent lots again, got vast amounts of food and used a second £10 off newspaper voucher and have also earned £10 off in December on the app , financially it’s going ok, although I don’t enjoy shopping there as much. I went when it opened so it was quiet and they opened a new till and I went to unload and some guy started shouting at me that I jumped the queue. I honestly didn’t know he was waiting and apologised and said obviously go ahead of me, he was the only one there so I didn’t miss a long line I just thought he was shopping, he then said no and carried on having a go, I couldn’t get out quick enough! It was still worth it though as I stocked up on Xmas week veg, the potatoes are no good for roast potatoes for Xmas day as they are tiny but were good in a winter veg tray bake last night, many veg are 15p now, so it’s potatoes, sprouts and carrots all week now 😆
Today I’m doing the Xmas cards and wrapping the last few bits up, will attempt to make a fish pie with reduced random fish I bought and froze yesterday.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
Like many we are tier four today, luckily we had not planned to see any family over Xmas anyway just incase as we are a big household with some still working everyday so nobody wanted to risk it. Great aunt who has just lost her dh and is very fragile was going to mums but I’m not sure she will now as they are in a bubble with my brother who lives alone, if that’s the case I might drop a dinner on the doorstep.Literally overnight I already feel more nervous about going to the shops! I’ve a small M&S order to collect Xmas eve but need to do a £50 odd shop for odds and ends an veg before Xmas, I might nip in Lidl and use the £10 voucher I have and then go to Tesco another day as it’s massive and I can go at silly o’clock when hopefully it’s empty. The kids all hit the Xmas Prosecco (again!) last night another three bottles gone, they will have to buy more. I hid all the craft beer and ale in my parents garages weeks ago, but I kept the wine and Prosecco on the retro drinks trolley as it looked good - big mistake 😆 I’ve told them they have to replace it if they want to drink it over Xmas as I’ve already replaced the 12 or so bottles I bought once in he last few months! They were celebrating dd not having to work next week now, and ds1 being given his first day off in weeks as he looked exhausted.
We are eight today as dds boyfriend’s dd is visiting, he’s not seen her for ages as she’s had the virus and been quite unwell with it, so it’s been a good few weeks since seeing her, he’s finally letting us put on a Xmas scary film with her (she’s 13) so looking forward to that! I’ve been sending her a daily alternative advent text through December of scary Xmas pictures 😆 my grandad made me a horror advent when I was a child and I loved it, hand drawn with bloody daggers and gallows behind the windows 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -

Hi jessy, we didn’t watch one in the end they played video games! Have made up for it yesterday with dd and ds2’s girlfriend watching ratatouille and ratburger whilst doing our own Xmas nails 😁
I think I’ve done my Xmas food shop now, I thought I’d pop to tesc@ first thing yesterday to get stuff that won’t go off, I expected it to be pretty quiet that early and pouring with rain - not at all 😱 so I did a supermarket sweep style shop, throwing in fresh stuff too as I don’t want to have to go again! Spent more than I should and still have the M&S collection Xmas eve, I will work out the overspend later today, I did buy extra cupboard stuff yesterday as there are so many of us and I don’t want to go out for a bit, we are in a London borough so rife with the virus is been in the headlines a lot recently.I have a £10 Lidl coupon to use over a £10 spend in the next three days, I can drive to one in ten minutes and it will kill me to waste it but it seems silly going out when it’s really busy when I don’t need to. Ds2 has been unexpectedly told he is done with work before Xmas now, still don’t know of hey will keep him on in the new year, so it’s only dh leaving the house now, everyone else is either working from home or done for Xmas.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -

I used to pop to lidl/aldi when I lived close on xmas eve before closing and found for a few years that it was pretty quiet and they had xmas veg further reduced. I always stocked up to make batches of soup for the freezer xMortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

Hi Bargain Hunter, after going to get my m and s order I popped into get some bread and shelves were rammed and only a handful of people shopping, there will lots of bargains at the end of the day I guess.

Thanks Vix, I hope you have had a good day too 😊Xmas went really well, ds2 proposed to his girlfriend, he made a lovely leather album with photos of them in and the ring sunk into the first page. So they have all been drinking champagne and everything else around all day 😂The turkey was ok from M&S but the surprise hit of the day was the £22 frozen goose from tesc@, I shall buy that again. I was very lucky to receive a few pieces of Emma bridgewater, including a kettle, toaster and some plates and a cheese platter 😍 I’m officially old now, alcohol free and excited about crockery 😆
I hope everybody had a good day 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
