Busy weekend, we have winter wonderlanded the garden 😆 my new £10 box of lights didn’t go far so instead of buying more I used our alternative tree lights which are also warm white, we don’t often use them as we go coloured usually. It looks great, fairy lights all around all the fences and over the log cabin, feels like we are in a German market 😬 plus my Santa style red velvet Sherpa throws are amazing, just need a couple more but they were reduced months ago so no chance of that now sadly.

Second  Lidl shop on the horizon tomorrow, I’ve spent an extra £12 odd in the farm shop too this week, meal plan was done tonight, ds2 and girlfriend have decided they don’t eat red meat any more, so now we have veggies, meat eaters, eat fish or foul and an occasional vegan! Not so easy for meal planning en masse. Today was vegan bean chilli and jacket potatoes /rice/ homemade sourdough garlic bread, probably the only meal I’ve ever done where everybody actually liked and ate the same meal - well liked might be pushing it for dh as there was no meat 😆

Ah, until that last bit I was thinking, just serve vegan with grated cheese... but if DH likes his meat... hmm. You have got a house full!

Are the fairy lights specifically for outside? It sounds lovely in your garden and I’d love to have a go at similar but the lights we have are definitely not outside ones - I’d worry about it raining on them! More research needed I think!

  • Hi Newgirly I don’t envy you doing all that cooking with special diets. There is 4 of us my husband, me and 2 grown up children. Add boyfriend & girlfriend and I’m cooking for 6. I get quite stressed each day trying to think what to cook. They always have a desert and I always cook from scratch. I’m trying to keep the budget low not easy. I always seem to have a complaint from one of mine for one reason or another. A thankless task I’ve decided. I enjoy your diary. Not long until you can put up your xmas trees xx

Oh NG, how awful. Very sorry to hear about your great uncle. And your poor great aunt. I hope they can get her on some medication that will help her soon - you never know, she might be in your garden sooner than you think. Sending hugs! xx

Thanks everyone that’s very kind 🙂 she’s still waiting to be transferred which is a pain as she wants to go home and she’s escaped once already!  Hopefully she will get the help she needs to get her back on a even keel and able to go home, I fear it might be a long journey though.

Still waiting for my last ever payday this month, will check finances and update soon though 😬
