(I’m sure I must sounds as if I have something against DD - not the case at all!! But if she’s living a largely independent life, and has somewhere to be, but the boys don’t, it seems as if she might need to make the sacrifice for them/DS2 especially)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Not at all Vix, I think what’s changed is she is no longer working and boyfriends dad is not the easiest to live with (I won’t go into detail but she is not exaggerating!) She thinks he will want her to leave of lockdown is lifted or will start charging rent which she can’t pay. He did mention rent at the start of lockdown, but I told her I’m not paying as his daughter is here and she was on unpaid work placement.I’m happy for her to be here shut away in her room for two weeks first, but boyfriend makes it trickier, he is very sensible so we will come up with a solution I’m just not sure what that is yet! he has not seen his dd for two months except online so she is not an issue.Conversely in the group discussion yesterday on WhatsApp ds2’s girlfriend and dds boyfriend (brother and sister) were discussing how much nicer it is living here and how she doesn’t want to go home, a compliment , but we may have to consider a one bedroom flat as our next move 😂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5

I hadn't realised that they were living with BF's dad. Hmm... I can see the issue now and I completely understand (my Dad was not the easiest to live with - and lockdown would have been horrendous!) and yes, I took refuge at now-DH's parents' house rather a lot! She has my sympathy then. But yes... maybe if the weather stays good they could live in the summerhouse?!

I don’t think she will want to let the rats have her room and live in the cabin 😆
They are living with dad , other sister (21) and her boyfriend who they get on well with. Dad is off to Thailand in the near future to marry his Thai girlfriend who is in her early twenties, so they will all have to find somewhere to live....

Better not let them all move in with you!

I see the point about the rats... why are they not in with DS2 and GF?

He has asthma which they irritate if they are in the same room at night, but don’t worry they certainly won’t all be moving in with us 😱😱😱😱MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7

There is an obvious answer here NG, tell the Dad you will mistreat his daughter unless he is nice to yours! You may as well utilise her as a hostage - it's not like she's able to leave 😂😂😂!
And on a more serious note, could the rats live in the log cabin? It seems very generous they have their own room when you're bursting at the seams. You could set the rats running free in there - sure to make the usual spiders seem much more palatable by comparison!
It's a shame you and DH can't escape to the flat in York and leave them all to it!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Ah, hadn’t thought about the asthma and the rats- that makes sense!

😂 I could try that SC, she is a hostage!Rats will live in the cabin during the day but it’s too cold at night apparently ( I don’t know , I thought rats lived outside 😆) so they will be brought in a bedtime to go in the conservatory. The Emma Bridgewater stuff turned up today and it’s so lovely! I am now properly addicted to collecting it and looking forward to buying more each month hopefully.Off to try the cruise company to beg for a refund ASAP, then the mortgage company as I can’t change deal online due to my circumstances (interest only perhaps?) so I want to get an appointment booked in as they must be way busier than usual.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5
