Can’t you edit the listing for the aftershave? Or not now there’s a bid on it?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning vix, I’ve accepted an offer and sold it now £8
already have a few other bids on stuff too it’s so exciting!
I’ve actually kept two of the Zara dresses I was returning to list, a long satin pink OTT gown type one is going for more than £9.99 so worth a try, the rest is a few old clothes and many unopened lower priced aftershaves that mil has bought for Xmas, some get used but nobody can keep up with the rate they are bought
Bought 2 tickets for dds boyfriends birthday at the Albert hall as suggested by dd last night £142 (from the birthday pot) , one will be for her birthday though as they are expensive! It’s his 30th though so we will spend a bit more this year, I’m hoping to do a joint family do for dd and ds2’s partners as they are 21 and 30 a few weeks apart this summer and also brother and sister.
To do today:
Hope useless builder returns form wherever he’s been
Meal plan
Take back unwanted clothes for refund
Keep on top of washing and ironingMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -
The joint party was sounding weird... until you mentioned they were also siblings!
From what I recall, they don't have a particularly supportive family environment, is that right? If so, I think it's lovely that you've taken them under your wing. But... as someone who feels terrible that she gets more spent on her by her in-laws than her divorced parents combined (and far more than is spent by them on DH)... don't go too mad - it's really awkward and the recipients are likely to feel very guilty!!

Hi vix, I understand where you are coming from
It’s a shame that it makes you feel like that
families can be so different can’t they, I remember my first Xmas at dhs parents when they all got one smallish present each to be opened after dinner, quite different to the craziness at our house! So do your In-laws spend more on you than your dh or have I read that wrong? Seems odd if so!
I think it applies to so many other things too, I’m very aware to try to not overstep, especially with ds2’s girlfriend who has suffered more I think. I know ds2 says being in our family environment has helped her while grieving.
Both of them do notice the difference in having a more average family situation, but they seem to enjoy it here rather than feel sad, at least I hope so. Strange to see how two siblings can see their lives through different lenses too. But I do take on board what you say, I’m not going to spend vast amounts, more make a fuss which potentially could be just as bad!
It feels right to just slot them into our usual routines, birthdays they have to listen to Stevie wonder first thing full blast, Xmas it’s stockings and all the little traditions. I think these types of situations could be more awkward really, but then if they are here how do you not treat them the same I guess!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -
The in-laws spend more on me than my parents do on DH - not than they do on him! I guess we all have different attitudes to gifting and money etc.
Wow... I wrote an epic post about gifting and my family, DH's family... but it really wasn't relevant. It's lovely that your 'adopted children' get to be included in the family stuff. Just do listen when they (and their partners) say 'that's too much!'
Dare I ask, how's the building work?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Oh I see, I did think it would have been a bit odd otherwise :rotfl:
Building work getting there slowly, very slowly actually!
Rubbish day at work today, boilers been down for a while now and I’m on the ground floor where the door is often open, awkward working in a coat sometimes, plus the cold is making some of the needles on my machine break. We should get them to fix it, however there is talk of the wage bill being too high at the moment
Dd was caught up in the second ww2 bomb scare in two days! Yesterday she was the last building to be evacuated in soho as they were right next to it, they then found another one nearby today. Was a bit worried yesterday, but today we were in pun territory
Still today’s good bits:
Zara blue satin jumpsuit arrived at work today and it fits :j £49.99 reduced to £9.99 and my inspiration for losing more weight before the cruise
Lovely low cal veggie cobbler from tesc@ for dinner, with enough cals left to eat six m&s biscuit curls
Flooring mainly fitted in living room :T still lots to do and the old fireplace looks a bit rubbish with its homemade by dh hearth in a varnished wood style that doesn’t go with new oak floor. Will think on that.
Friend at works mum who sends me and him low cal crisps and sugar free biscuits every week as we compete to lose weight, but since I sent her a few little presents for Xmas to say thanks she’s getting even more than before :rotfl:
Working with ds2 who is so funny and also puts great music on at workMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -
We had the mysterious leak coming through the hallway ceiling from the bathroom onto the new floor while I was at work yesterday, along with me turning on a radiator not properly plumberd in so that leaked too, boiler on low pressure but couldn’t see how to fix it as it’s new so had to get dad over as dh working late, plus the cat had an accident on dds bed and no clean sheets for her and we had eight of us here last night, all really relaxing after a long day at work :rotfl:
Still, eBay is going well with a few bids and I’ve got plenty of wrapping bits from £1land after my mistake last time of buying last minute from the post office which as £££, the hsbc cashback has arrived £75 ready to op.
It’s feeling like it’s all consuming at the moment, not spending and trying to find extra is hard work sometimes! Well worth it for as long as I can can keep it up for thoughMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Oh NG, it sounds like it was really one of those days yesterday! I think the phrase (*sounding all zen*) 'This too shall pass' probably sums up the attitude you need to take! (Insert :rotfl: here as I can't see it in the new forum - it better not have gone! (likewise!)).
Good news about the HSBC money and Ebay though and just keep goingIt feels like a bit of trudge here at the moment too.
