Thanks vix and sc, I think it will be the only large op this year
Builder is boarding one side of the living room then a plasterer is coming today to do half the walls, dh wants to pay him an extra day to plaster the other half which was going to be papered as it’s not as bad. We will have to pay the extra which is about £200, I have exactly £200 float which was to pay for the back door to be fixed and have a mechanism, so I think I’ll have t find some extra money.
Half the Zara order has arrived and everything is going back bar two summer dresses, perfect for a summer cruise in the evenings both £49.99 reduced to £9.99 and £5.99 very pleasedMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -
Building work is frustrating, I went out about at 10.30 yesterday he had not arrived, home at 2pm he had already left! The quote for the extra plastering (just under half as much again) - was not £200 again but an extra £400  dad is paying it. I cannot understand any of this to be honest ,but it’s the way things seem to go when using his builders. Dd even overhead builder discussing with plasterer whether they would turn up Friday or not bother and how “loaded” my dad is, really nice!
Dh is having a nightmare at work and then his brother rang last night to say he needs to move in with their dad next week while his mum is away to look after him at night. He himself is now suddenly working longer hours and nights so won’t be able to help at all surprise surprise, younger brother is doing lots already so not sure what dh will do, he can probably go a couple of times.
I can’t transfer our wages this month until a new card reader arrives as it’s a new feeder account it’s not recognisedI’m a bit behind with everything this week but will stay in today and try and get in top of it all including the finances, it’s feb tomorrow so perhaps time to set a new monthly challenge

January review time
Trying to edge towards completing the list of things I want to achieve in 2020!
Weight loss- lose a stone, not sure about this as the batteries are flat on the scales, hopefully can find some today, but using mfw and eating well.
Ops- £2026.86 of the £18k target -£526.86 ahead of schedule
Dating- dh and I went to the cinema most weeks together using unlimited cards, no takeaways and no meals or drinks out except a coffee
Home improvements - it’s a building site downstairs but very slowly progressing and paid for
Side hustles - opended hsb@ account for dh at £175 cashback which was overpaid and transferred married tax allowance to dh (I already use some of it so not a big difference)
Saved £2 coins - £20 saved
Save £100 for extra needs this year, big birthdays, Alton towers trip etc. - £100 saved
Growing edibles- bought a pot of basil and didn’t kill it :rotfl:
I still haven’t gone through the finances or updated, will do that laterMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -

Thanks mfd’s and sc
Stressful day yesterday, weekends are tough with dh here as well living in the bedroom, it’s not as fun as it might sound :rotfl::rotfl: it is of course all his fault, grumpy and stressed about work!
Anyway today is the day to go through the finances, I”’ve been putting it off as I fear I’m over budget and have so many things I’ve ordered to go back and refunds due (Zara summer clothes sale!) it could take a while. As expected I’m keeping just a few items
I’m also wondering whether to start the feb budget from the 1st instead of when the statement is created (around 10th) as for the first time in many years I won’t be clearing the balance in full each month , just making the minimum payment and sticking the rest in the offset. It’s a new tesc@ cc and I’m not sure if it will be more awkward keeping track if I’m starting part way through a month if that makes sense. Obviously I would rather have a proper monthly budget that starts on the first.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -
Planned budget of £290 has gone way over, and I’m cutting it short!
Since 10th jan:
£298.20 food
£55.97 petrol (plus £20 cash)
£193.94 DIY
Over by £47.21 on the new cc monthly allowancebut that’s a lot on DIY which shouldn’t come from here really.
Spending now starts for 1st feb (£500 budget) and yesterday i did spend money
£20.11 petrol
£16.75 Poundland, misc. bits plus chocolate red roses for Valentine’s Day for dh and the kids
£33 in primarni on stranger things Pj’s for dd (unnecessary gift to cheer her up) and pjs and socks for ds1&2 - also not something I do anymore but it cheered me up
Takeaway cost came from PayPal
So here we go again, shouldn’t have blown money yesterday but have been seriously fed up and felt like it. Back on track today though, there should also be a float in my hsbc account if I ever get to access it when my code comes through to register! That will be op’d of course
FEBRUARY TARGETS
- lose 3 pounds
- keep under £500 total budget
- find and op an extra £200 ( hsbc cashback and float will help!)
- get back door fixed
- take dd out just the two of us
Keeping it simple this monthMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -
I have listed loads on eBay
all set to go at 7.30 tonight as apparently it’s a good time to end auctions, well all except some “pail” Smith aftershave I listed straight away :rotfl: already had a bid for £4 for it , but not sure what it usually goes for - although spelling mistakes don’t help :wall:
