Perhaps next year you could ask people to bring something? We always take something to my aunt’s towards tea on Christmas Day evening - it spreads the coat and the burden. A pud, cheese, nibbly bits...

Hope you’re feeling much better today!

Hi vix, I don’t really want to ask as we are at my parents xmas day and other than that it’s dhs parents who are struggling a bit at the moment (health not financially) then just our kids and partners.
After a bit more thought and a brief trip to aldi on the way home, I’ve decided to ditch the fancy stuff and keep it simple. This is mainly due to seeing the cheap 19p veg offers :money: so a rethink and probably cold meat and veg for Aldi :D

Really long day today, the xmas rush is intense but I’m now finished up until new year :j lots to do still , a couple of extra presents now to buy (for people I thought I had stopped buying for....) poor dh and ds2 came home even later than me tonight.

A good evening though, I’d previously bought Dd , ds2’s girlfriend and I red tartan pjs to wear over Xmas and we all wore them tonight while eating pizza and opening some Prosecco (and tea ) and we introduced ds2 s girlfriend to the vicar of dibley, the Xmas special of course :D which she seemed to enjoy :)

Ds2 not so impressed to see his girlfriend , mum and sister in the same pyjamas when he came through the door , it’s wrong apparently :rotfl::rotfl:

    I'm with DS2 - it's weird! :rotfl:

Fair enough about the food, although I think at some point you need to start letting your big kids contribute (and this is a small way to do it! They might even make the mash for you ;) )

Can't believe she'd never seen Vicar of Dibley... kids these days!

At this point I’ll be happy if they turn up as they are out and about :rotfl:

Popped to Aldi today and bought gammon and cheese while it was quiet in there, all there veg is super cheap this year 15p for red cabbage :T did try and get a vegan wreath but apparently they are delivered every morning and sell out straight away!

The electrician is finally returning tomorrow to channel out and wire in the wall lights I bought virtually a year ago  no idea what it will cost but we have waited a long time so need to grab him before he vanishes again....

Given dh a “frugal pep talk” tonight, he loves that sort of thing after long day at work :rotfl: it’s not like he’s not heard it before, it’s just been a while, I’m hauling him back on the bandwagon whether he wants to join in or not :p

Well the electrician turned up (5 hours late!) and has channelled out walls and ceiling without covering everything  presents , tree , rugs furniture covered! Supposed to have the work guys round for a drink before the pub but thats not going to happen now, he did apologise when he saw my shocked face :rotfl:

He’s back tomorrow and he doesn’t know how much it will cost?! Then I’m left with channeled out walls and ceilings, this doesn’t make me pleased as I don’t want to spend money on it. It feel like there’s is a conspiracy to make me spend at the moment when I’m actually trying hard not to.

The lights are fitted :T they took eighteen little led bulbs  looking very classy though :D The electrician wanted another £300, and dh bought all the switches. Dh has spent today helping dad dump a million bags of garden waste at the tip and filling all the holes the electrician made. He’s done some good things there, but boy is he not in a great mood! He HATES the tip and will do anything to avoid it, whereas it’s always been my dads favourite place to go :rotfl:

I’ve done something mse today :money: I’ve listed something on fleabay for the first time in years, the Elton John style silver jacket I bought for dads 70th party, I do like it but it’s very OTT so I’ve put a reserve of £20. It’s been on about 20 mins and I’ve already checked about 20 times, it’s so exciting!

Just had a text from little brother who told me our parents oven is broken. I’m seriously hoping they get it fixed before they host Xmas  I shall do my best to avoid them for a bit just incase they want to ask me a favour :rotfl:

Time to check the accounts now, do wages transfer- no xmas bonus to transfer unfortunately :( and then watch bond :D

We went to the tip this weekend... also hated by my husband! Many excuses, but we made it and he can now move in the garage!

Hope your parents get their oven sorted!

Well done for getting him there Vix :rotfl:

They did get the oven fixed thank goodness so we are off the hook :o all the kids are out tonight and only one is with us tomorrow, as it’s ds1 and he’s out clubbing he won’t be on top form. I may be doing a 2am pick up I feel he gets stuck, he’s a fair way out in Essex so I hope not. Even though it’s very cosy and festive here I do feel a little sad, it’s not the same as when they were little.

I hope everyone has a wonderful xmas tomorrow :xmassign:
