Lazy day today after a heavy night out
we threw a surprise leaving do for someone who has worked along side us for years, he was over the moon with his hamper of stuff he likes and voucher for his local pub
So today is a quiet one but I'm off to the cinema in ten minutes to see Winchester, dh and ds2 are already there watching maze runner which I didn't fancy.
Adding up all the tickets I know the boys would want for their birthdays has shown that my vast budget won't be quite enough  I did offer to pay for an extra festival ticket each if they don't want a party (they don't want to do anything actually!) so that's bumped it up by £140 each, I'll spend the same on Dd too -ouch!
Current total budget for all three £654 each plus £311 for cakes / family BBQ or meal , plus a meal out hopefully. It does make me cringe a bit writing that down, I realise what a lot of money it is to spend on kids birthdays and is vastly more than we would ever normally spend.
But they have had a lifetime of us not having a lot of money and I've always looked forward to celebrating all their big birthdays together and spoiling them, if they expected it I would not do it mind, plus to be honest it's all experiences not stuff so far. Grand Prix ticket for the race while in Budapest, reading festival, concerts (or gigs if you are not an old lady like me!).
So to fund this extra (£227 above planned spending) im having a low spend challenge for Feb £464 for everything until march. The lovely jeans I bought I zara - as per my to do list for Feb :rotfl: are going back as are the nice new Harry Potter pj's I bought that I don't need.
I will stick to budget this month :AMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I'm not sure of your children's ages, but it sounds like milestone birthdays. It's not like you'd spend as much every year, so it's worth 'making the memory' as they say.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi GG, they will be 18/18/21 within 13 days of each other , I'm not sure if it's great or terrible planning :rotfl: They will make lots of memories, just with their friends and not their mummy and daddy -boo!
Film was ok, woman sitting next to ds2 texting and listening to her voicemail not so much, even he didn't manage to tell her off this time as he was sat next to her it was awkward, what is wrong with people?
Today is a great day, I took delivery of my Amazon fire stick :j the kids can no longer use my little brother's Netflix account as he has cancelled it, much wailing for a while so I caved in and am paying £9.99 pm for a group account. Having a 3rd hand TV meant I couldn't use it hence the fire stick, wow so much tv I want to watch I may have to retire and take up watching tv full time as a hobby, top of the list is stranger things

Mine too:) DS3 will turn 21 a few weeks after DD turns 18, but I have another 4 years to save for it so not overly worried:DNovember NSD's - 70 -
Perhaps it's the mse way, it's a good way to save costs combining birthday treats if you can :money: :rotfl::rotfl:
Dh is bored, I could give him a long to do list but I don't think he wants one
ds2 and him are going to spend a ridiculous amount of time at the cinema instead, it gets them out from under my feet I guess, plus I don't want to go anywhere and spend money today
On the menu today:
Loads of ironing
Loads of washing
Loads of sitting around drinking tea and mooching online at kitchen extensions (is could be a danger zone, I do NOT want to continue the mortgage longer and have a lovely new massive kitchen extension with bifold doors, all empty and white with cool retro furniture dotted about) no I don't, I want to pay off the mortgage

I ditched the washing and ironing today and spent the day shifting bedroom furniture and clearing out drawers. My engagement ring has been missing (since the week we sacked the dodgy builder......) I thought it could have got lost however unlikely , but after today it's definitely gone. It was my dads mums ring and quite valuable , although as usual not insured seperatly. Can't see how it wouldn't help much anyway as another ring would not be the same.
Anyway on the plus side the bedroom looks great, I have a sack of stuff for the charity shop and too many bags of old underwear thrown away, not sure how I have so much
