Totally agree about the assumption thing. DH is the other way around - can't be bothered with the laundry but doesn't mind the hoovering or cleaning bathrooms!

ive told my parents I won't make it to york tomorrow and they were fine with it. I've had a lazy day today, managed to put on a couple of loads of washing (including the Xmas bedclothes )
Ordered some extra drink for December as mr t has 25% off 6 bottles and I had £31 in clubcard vouchers, so we should be getting close to fully stocked for boozy visitors
Also bought myself an Xmas present for dh to give me - the new bop it, only £10.99 from argos. It's probably only second to monopoly for family fisticuffs at Xmas :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I managed to power through my cold yesterday on my girls Xmas night out with vast amounts of alcohol, not feeling so great now today :rotfl:
Just made the advent stockings finally, only 120 gifts wrapped and labelled  Xmas tree and decs are up including the new hall tree which is Harry Potter themed :j it has house baubles , the hogwarts expess, a few themed baubles and house bunting, it's great
December food budget has started as I can use the cc from yesterday, I'm hoping for a £400 budget for the month.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Brilliant day yesterday with friends who we haven't seen for about four years (who introduced dh and I many years ago
) I did a huge spread and we got through an embarrassing amount of alcohol. I really need to have a while off the drink to let my body recover
Lazy day at home today, I'm really happy about that as life has been so full on the last few weeks. I've tons of washing to do but other than that I'm going to hopefully make some financial plans for 2018, hopefully our last full year of having a mortgage -I can't believe I'm saying that :jMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Thanks guys, feeling quite optimistic I will do a bit better next year!
So current dilemmas are - dd , she is in her second year at uni, living at home and I've been mostly paying her travel to uni (payg as she's not there everyday) she has just got a new job , :T her current part time job is ending December as they are closing down. New job they actually approached her for an interview, but its full time, therefore it may be very hard to fit around uni work placements etc. But she's giving it a go.
She's offered to pay for keep, but I feel like as she is at uni we said we would pay for her but we aren't. I'm thinking of suggesting she just cover her own costs for travel instead of for paying rent? its tricky as I intend to charge them all rent eventually but save it to return in the future when they mov out. Dd however saves everything anyway, but I have to treat them the same, not sure what to do. I think it's the uni situation which makes it feel different.
Second dilemma is ds2. His laptop (second hand and bought himself) has died, when dds broke last year I bought her a MacBook as it was better for what she needed at uni , my parents offered to pay and after a few weeks of saying no, I did let them pay. It was only Dd who needed one and they said if and when the boys need a new one we will do he same for them. Fast forward and I've asked dad if he has a spare old one we can borrow (he lent us a very old one!) which ds2 said was not up to date enough really, so I said thanks but gave it back as unsuitable. They have not offered to buy ds2 a new one. It's very awkward as I have never asked them to pay for anything ever, but ds2 will know they have bought Dd one and not him
she has had the odd extra treat of over the last year or so (expensive concert tickets -but the boys would not have wanted to go type of thing) I'm not sure what to do!
Anyway that's this mornings dilemas , I'm off to work

Very busy week again, went to see the dreamgirls (not my but of tea!) plus lots of meet ups with friends for lunch and dinner plus we are very busy at work. I did save most of my holiday for December and was supposed to finish this Wednesday, but dh lasted until Thursday beforehand he rang for me to go back in :rotfl:
This weekend I have nothing booked in :j I'm going to do washing , cleaning , cooking and watch some movies
plus I will be updating the finances to see where we are at and hopefully deciding on a figure for next year's mfw 2018 challenge. MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
