I'm loving the inflatable animals conversation here - Alex is definitely right about this being the only diary where this sort of thing happens! (On a related note, did you see this article?

Hope the building work goes well NG - I shouldn't worry about not having ordered things... My mum is having a new cloakroom and kitchen and I've been there while she's been ordering things whilst the builder is waiting!

I know! (I've always quite fancied volunteering at a hedgehog hospital! (And from the reports, they need us more than ever - the decline is something shocking :( )

Dh made it almost bang on 2 and a half hours to download, Not his usual taste in music , he said it was a bit "hardcore" :D

    I'd have thought it further.

Some pupils went last year and said they enjoyed it. :)

The builders are swapping our main bathroom with ds1's tiny box room , we will also steal a metre or so from ds2s room to make the new bedroom bigger. The box room will soon be a walk in shower room, they arrive today and I have not chosen any fittings yet  as we will no longer have an airing cupboard I should probably have a vanity unit /cupboard in there, but I want a huge Art Deco style sink etc. Which would look better but be way less practical, I've wasted hours looking......

Sounds like quite a job and a bit last minute with fittings not yet chosen!

Hope building work goes well NG. I panicked when going through the process for our extension as we were borrowing and spending so much money. However, absolutely the best thing we ever did and I would not entertain moving now. We've created the *almost* perfect house for us in an area we love. Hopefully the council will get back to you soon and that will help with your decision making.

Hi cath, Im glad you are so happy with all the work you have had done, I still have not decided yet but am swaying towards not having an extension :o

Bathroom chosen and ordered, but the last Wednesday slot went whilst I was ordering so it's not due until Friday now  builder can get on with doing other bits (if he continues to show up :rotfl:) we went for a "moda planet" vanity unit 800mm in black with matching wall hung cupboard and a large walk in shower with plain glass sheet type of screen. I really fancied an Art Deco style or even an vintage reclaimed coloured Deco basin , but they are impossible to get hold of and probably something with storage is better.

I've temporarily decided to ditch weightwatchers for mfp, I'm still going to the weigh ins for a few more weeks to support best friend but I'm really struggling with the limited things I can eat. I'm eating fruit and salad a lot as it's free but when a cucumber sandwich is a third your total day's allowance it gets tricky to stick to Day in day out. I'm going to have 1500 cals a day and give myself an extra weekly allowance of 1500 to splurge at the weekend, i stated it today and have eaten so much more than on WW , it was a lot easier to get through work too, the last few weeks I've felt pretty rough. As long as the weight goes down constantly I really dont mind how quickly or slowly it happens.

Also went out for an hours walk this evening and went to bed early with a green tea :A

Well some good news this week, I've lost 2lb  that's about as far as good news goes :rotfl:

My rather rude builder has knocked through the bathroom wall to ds2s room so he how has an "ensuite" he's done not much more than a day this week. Back today to build a new wall. The house is thick with dust but it doesn't seem worth cleaning some of it until he's gone again.

ive asked him to give us a quote to plaster the ceilings in the other two first floor bedrooms and decorate and have new flooring laid/ skirtings etc. , he is not massively reliable but works to a really good finish (I'm told by dad) and is very cheap - he's quoted £3,500 to switch bathrooms , move internal brick wall etc. the other builder quoted £11,500.

Mortgage wise I have no idea when it will be cleared at this rate! Ive paid for the shower room fittings which were £1200 (the colour I wanted was half price :money:) I believe dad was paying for the work and the materials including suite, however I'm not actually sure he is as I had to put it on my cc :o I will assume he is not as I don't really want to ask. Also will need to buy both boys new cupboards and desks, plus he odds and ends like blinds, lights etc.

I went to see friend's parents extension last night, it's a bit bigger than our would be if we get planning permission. It's not helped me make a descision in getting ours done really. I'm still not sure that 50k odd for a much better layout but a very similar floor area is worth it? Adding a few months on feels ok, but adding a few years on feels a bit miserable, I'm looking forwards to having a bit more fun - as per my diary title :rotfl:

You're braver than us having an extension built! Looking at all the junk in our house from 3 kids and never ending supply of toys from the charity shop from grandparents, i know we'd only add more clutter! Instead i'm on a constant battle of tip and charity shops runs!!

Though i can appreciate the excitement the planning generates. I'm sure it all work out perfectly!

:rotfl: oh dear! Ours are older so have much less now, but I remember how many toys they use to have, the in laws seemed especially good at buying massive plastic toys they didn't really play with

This! There's no way I could be as close as you are and then potentially add another £50k on.... you're so close to freedom!! (And just think, the house won't be so crowded when you and DH can afford to go away every weekend ;) )
