Weigh in day, I'm also weighing myself this morning (naked on one leg obviously!) just to see the difference between that and clothed during the sw weigh in tonight

Dad popped over last night, he has made a very generous proposal :D he suggested we switch the bathroom and ds1s bedrooms around and he pays for all the work. :j

The bathroom is currently at the back with an unused airing cupboard, bath with overhead shower and toilet/basin. We would be stealing about 2ft from ds2s bedroom on the adjoining wall. Ds1s old tiny bedroom would then be a new shower room at the front of the house, it is big enough for a bath too just about be we have one on the top floor and it's only Dd and I that ever use it, so it would have a walk in shower instead. It would make ds1s box room a more square shape and a final size of just under 9x9 ft, still small but much more useable than the cupboard under the stairs Harry Potter size he currently has :T

My parents are helping my brother out with more money to help buy his flat, so I think this I should their way of balancing things out, I'm going to accept their offer.

They know we have been looking at houses as I was worried about wanting to move after it's done and wasting their money, but to be honest after a chat with dh last night I think this will help a lot with not wanting to move. We now may well make a decision on having the back extension and staying here longer/forever.

The kitchen is really in a bad way (some cupboards a bit rotten!) so needs replacing, it will be a choice betweeen doing it as it is or having an extension across the back of the whole house making a separate living room at the front, a downstairs loo, and then having a massive open plan big room at the back with bifold glass along the back opening to the garden.

It's a big expense that we were going to save for once mf if we stayed, now I'm think of doing it a bit sooner, otherwise it may well be around four years time.

We have always been reluctant to spend vast amounts on the house as there I see often a ceiling to what you would get when selling, but I've be seen a lot of terraces like ours that have had serious money spent on renovation and extension and they are selling for a lot. I guess semis and detached houses are often quite out of reach sadly.

When everything is done with the house the only drawbacks left to not moving are - garden is small, started life at 44ft long before being built on, but is newly paved and would work well with an indoor /outdoor living area at the back.

Being mid terrace - we are propbaly the noisy neighbours if anyone is :rotfl: but seriously our neighbours are quiet , but they could move out and sell to anyone

Parking- space for two on the drive, can currently park on the street but it's getting busier with more yellow lines nearby so an overspill, garage rented over the road may help with that possibly in the future.

Plus sides are location and size, the room sizes are often the same or bigger than other houses that are dearer, the fact it's where the kids grew up :o dh thinks I'm crazy but we have so many happy memories here :)

Oops, some serious waffling this morning!

First Sw done, some of it I am a bit sceptical about (we don't make you count points or calories so it's easy , them you get an allowance of syns a day, an allowance of other food groups etc.) it seems fairly healthy though, I did question the fact that if you are a meat eater you can have meat and fish as much as you want and one portion of dairy a day, if you are veggie just one portion of dairy also, she said I could double my allowance of bread a day, seems better to have more dairy I would have thought?

Time will tell I guess, she also said I can't save all my syns for a night out, as a glass of red is a day's allowance I think I'll have to , I'd rather have the occasional let your hair down than a treat every day.

Had another talk with dh last night, i think we might get some quotes on having an extension, I guess all in it will be about 80k to remove the conservatory and build across the kitchen/living room and knock through, the extra size will be 3 x6 m, including bifolds and a pitched roof with glass or velux windows. But I know nothing about it really so we need quotes, but if we do it it's going to add 3 years to the mortgage :(

The unlimited meat and fish is supposed to be lean so virtually fat free whereas the dairy allowance is based on full or semi-fat. You can gave as much fat free yogurt etc. as you want.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Quark (skimmed soft cheese) is good too, newgirly, and it's free. I use it to make loaded potato skins (with grated low fat cheese allowance & chopped onion) it makes a really nice lunch with salad, beetroot etc. The 'recipe' is on the Slimming World thread on the Health & Beauty forum. I think all the supermarkets sell Quark, but Aldi is the cheapest.

    ETA: extension sounds fab :)

Thanks GG and pink poppy :) I've just googled quark, never had it before so shall give it a try.

We have decided to quit sw already  it must be a world record for giving up :o we are going to try WW on Thursday, best friend was leaning towards this initially but I thought we would have more choice on SW as veggies, but after having a good look through the lists I think it's going to be harder work, lots of the healthy recipes I already cook wouldn't work on that plan.

I think it may work better for eating out sometimes and as you say wine  :D

Over spent massively at mr t on the way home from work last night, the budget has had a hammering this month, I have not made much effort trying to live on £500 this month really, Ill have have a look tonight to see what we will do going forwards, especially if we may spend money in an extension.

Whatever happens I'd rather not extend the term past the official end date of April 2022 and ideally would like to clear it earlier even is possible still.
