:rotfl: Gally, having managed to sort out plans, I realise how much better it is. I'm eating better and don't have to think about what we're going to eat so much.
NG: Why are you planning / making different meals for yourself? I think this is probably causing some of the temptation to not eat well.
Personally, I don't think exercising is an "extravagant" expense, if you're going to use the gym / pool.
I think the working is crazy, to be honest but it's his choice.
:rotfl: Re. your perceptions of the "big house in the country", I suppose a lot of what we like relates to what we're used to.2018 totals:

I'm the only veggie in the house Alex so we don't always eat the same. It's more I can't be bothered sometimes after cooking for the others so will have a cheese sandwich and crisps.
I will join the gym again but probably next year, my best friend and I were going together a lot until she feel pregnant with her youngest, when he starts play school I shall make her come with me again, it's easier to force myself to go with her.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
As you do the cooking, perhaps you need to prepare vegetarian meals for the vast majority of the time and perhaps once or twice per week prepare meat for the others. If they want to eat meat on the other days, they can prepare it.2018 totals:

Sometimes they do but it would not go down well all the time, I don't feel I can say to dh who has just done a 15 hour day as usual eat my salad or cook your own! The kids do often cook for themselves but its more likely something in a frying pain or made with the kettle, hence why I try to cook them a healthier meal.
Getting up to do day one of the shred now, where are my horrendously patterned colourful Lycra outfits, they have not had an outing for agesMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have not read all your posts have read a couple of pages at the start and at the end.
It sounds that you have achieved a lot over time.
Got a few questions for you?
I have no spare money at the end of the month but always seem to manage and not get deeper in debt. We owe £3000 on 0% until Aug 2017. Can only afford to pay off £100 a month so it will not be paid off by Aug so will have to transfer to 0% again. I would love to eat into our mortgage it is at 4.79% fixed for another 2 years. My husband says to pay off cc first and not too worry about mortgage. My idea is too take longer to pay off cc and pay off some of the mortgage. We have no savings.
I noticed you took out a loan but why didn't you save and then would have had the money?
Don't know what to do regarding mortgage if I don't overpay at the moment we will pay £83000 in interest alone. Any thoughts0 -
Hi liveitup, I think it depends on a few variables not just the % interest charged.
How confident are you that you will be able to get another cc at 0% when your current deal ends?
when your current mortgage deal is up in two years will you possibly be at the threshold for a lower ltv and therefore interest rate? Will clearing or not clearing the cc have an impact on that?
Is there anyway you could really go for it for he next 6/7 months and clear as much of the cc as possible? Apologies of this is way beyond reach, but as a short term challenge could you make a dent with a change of lifestyle?
We took the loan for the loft conversion as we didn't pass affordability to remortgage at the time and our 12 year old (I think they were 12 ish!) twins were bickering noisily every night sharing a room , so I may have had to strangle them if we didn't just get it done quick
As for overpaying, why not! Joining mse has been fantastic for me and totally changed how I see money, we were deep in debt by about 30k on loans at the start , I still can't save really but I can pay stuff off well, do what works for you, best of luckMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Suffering a lot today after doing day one of the shred yesterday :eek:I probably shouldn't have used kettlebells instead of hand weights too
day two has been postponed until I can move my legs again
Better news with weight loss 2lb this week, finally! Other than that a rubbish day, 2x kids off sick, trip to the doctors (earache), long day at work, washing machine flooded the kitchen. The usual joys of family lifeMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Slightly spendy day today, took dd to look at laptops after work as hers has died
still not sure what she wants to go for but as she's only ever had £100 rubbish ones or second /third hand ones , I've said she can have whatever she thinks she needs  it's currently between an Apple Mac something or other (£788 after staff discount ) and a hp one £600 with £200 off -£400
If she goes for then dearer one it will be from the mortgage account and will set us back a month, if not it will be from the premium bonds I have saved for the cruise spending money, fate will decide, or dd will
Anyway the spending was on b*rger king takeout for them all in the way home as the boys came to give us advice
I did offer ds1 a laptop as he is borrowing a desktop from dh at the moment he said no he doesn't need it, I also asked ds2 - and he said no his is fine too! Result.
Dd has threatened to take her student loan living element to buy a laptop or use savings bless her but there is no way I want her to do that.
Oh and a bit more spending done at ald* on the way home on bread and dark blue lilies, I don't normally like funny coloured flowers but I use to love Beauty and the beast with George c. Scott and the blue rose, reminded me of watching it over and over with my grandparents so I had to spend £3.19 on themMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Lillies, how beautiful!!
Sounds like your lot are well trained on needs vs wants from the sounds of it- hats off to youFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
I've gone a little off the rails
Spent on some boots in the sale for me from jones the bootmaker, plus half a dozen ish clothing items for the boys, plus a pizza takeout for the kids last night, plus an Indian takeout for dh and I last night
I also booked p*zza express valentines deal last week for tonight (book early get a free bottle of prosecco as well as the deal ) I suppose it's not the most spectacular wasting of money I've ever achieved , but still will need to replace money that was spend time from a budget to tight to allow for it! Although that being said the boots and 2/3 of the clothes are going back anyway.
Will probably still go out tonight as it's a miserable week for us, it's the anniversary of losing out first dd (Valentine's Day) and my little sister. Sometimes we do the valentines thing still on the day, other years we just do something the weekend before or after.
Crashed and burned with the diet the last couple of days too, it seems I can only diet when I'm not hungry......MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
