  • Try on a few of Mrs K's Alex. Give her something real to complain about!

The lack of pockets in women's clothes is really sexist.

Way too much wine last night (fell off the wagon a bit again!) went round my parents with the boys for a takeaway, feel a little delicate so am resting in bed :D

House all clean, washing all done, beds changed etc. So no real reason to ever get up :rotfl: have fed pets of course but kids can fend for themselves :p I can't remember the last time I had a proper lie in.

Dds boyfriend has his dd one day at the weekends, so I've just text her to see if they want to choose a couple of new fish this afternoon with us, they don't have anything planned and he is suffering from man flu, its an amazing place they have a whole massive room just for marine fish, with eels and startfish etc. Its mse really as they have more interesting stuff than some aquariums we have paid to visit :rotfl:

Also trying to plan a cheap trip away, dh offered to crack open his change jar at work to pay for a night away :T I need to find out how much there is and how far we can go on it.

    :rotfl:, smallholding.

Don't agree re. sexism. Ultimately, ladies do get a lot more choice of appropriate attire for almost any occasion and if we are to argue that a lack of pockets in ladies' attire is sexist, then are we also going to say that a gentleman should have the option to wear a dress? ;)

 Re. the too much wine.

Have you got a marine aquarium, NG? I am just setting one up for my son (very slowly :rotfl:). :D

Not marine, way too much maintenance! Just tropical - currently we have parrot fish (fantastic and friendly, follow you around the tank if you are near or walk past!) and a small catfish. Are you setting up marine then?

I don't think I'd better join in the discussion re clothes and sexism as I've already had a heated discussion with some guys at work this week about the same thing, they think it should be legal for companies to insist on women wearing make up /heels, I don't. And yes I don't mind if you want to swear a dress :p

January food budget down to 65p and I need to get bread milk and salad today, so I've had to transfer £10 from the isa, along with an extra £20 for a long winter military coat I bought in the sale for dd today :T plus another £10 as the building society took way more than I thought for an interest payment. I'd allowed £200 as I expected it to be about £110 from Jan, but they still take the higher amount (£210) and op the difference, it doesn't matter but I was short £10. Isa is now £40 down :o

I did however resist spending oodles of money on a girly holiday, best friend text me today to ask if I fancy a few days in a fantastic hotel /vineyard in Italy with her sisters and a few friends, I said no though :( it just doesn't seem fair if we care not spending much on holidays this year fo me to splash out alone! I will do it when he mortgage is gone though for sure

Ds2 is off to see Amadeus at the national theatre tonight, we were going to see the live cinema screening on Thursday about (£18 ish each!) but my little brother is now not going to the actual performance tonight , so ds2 has acquired the ticket and is going with my dad, result ;)

January update figures to follow :)

I've seen parrot fish in the shops. :D Has yours grown really large?

Yes, I'm very slowly setting up a marine aquarium, though it could turn into a very good tropical set up at this moment as I've not got to the point of actually choosing. Just making a cabinet at the moment and reading A LOT about it. It's my son who persuaded me that we want a marine aquarium but I'm finding it something rather fascinating to learn about myself. :)

The clothes thing has been topical at the moment. I think in a professional environment both sexes should aim to dress well. Personally, I think high heels higher than around 2-2.5" are more !!!!!! star than professional. :rotfl: To balance this a little, in the case of men those awful tan shoes that seem very popular with blue suits and about two week's worth of stubble should be banned, along with the nastily cheap "novelty" cufflinks they tend to wear with them.

Only one day of January left, at least. :D

I'd love to be going to see Amadeus at the National Theatre :D... rather envious of your teenage son right now, NG. :rotfl:

The parrot fish is about 12cm long I guess, not that big yet, marine are going to cost you a few £££'s but there are so many stunning fish.

If you are really keen , Cineworld are beaming it live around the country this Thursday (Amadeus that is!) much easier than getting to the southbank :D

And corals. :D Yes, I know it's not going to be a cheap investment but I'm hoping my son will get a lot from looking after the aquarium (with me). It will be good for him to see science in action.

Just looked up Cineworld, it doesn't start until 7pm, so too late really and I don't know if it would be suitable for my son to see.
