Posted off the papers now :j just need to be patient waiting for the outcome.

I've spent the day sorting through my wardrobe and drawers and chucking stuff out. I have one bag which can go on ebay/boot sale and 5 bin bags of stuff to be recycled. now I've cleared out what is tatty or does not fit theres not much left!

We have sooo much stuff in the loft, I think we may do a boot sale, as I think it is just too much to get rid of on ebay and I don't want to have stuff everywhere for ages.

I think I may go and have a look on the op calculator again to see how much we need to op by!

  • Well done on sending the application off. Financially seems like the best decision especially based on figures DH may earn next year, you would be so gutted if you could not get the mortgage advance after everything. Hopefully it won't be long before you can get the ball rolling and then the real excitement begins.

You have been treading very carefully weighing up all the pros and cons and you can 100% justify this now. :j

Once you have sold all your car boot stuff, it will be a case of clearer house and clearer mind. It drives me mad, 'things' lying about the house...:D

DD is going back to school today, and I'm going to take the dog for a very long walk with my friend. Today I REALLY am starting my diet (again!)
we are going for a weekend away with the institute to do with dh's work, we go every year and this year he is vice president and we have to walk in, in front of about 150 /200 people. I have realised that I am 1 + 3/4 stones heavier than a year and a half ago :(
I tried on a dress I wore for xmas 2 years ago and I could hardly get it on let alone do it up. So the impossible challenge is to wear the dress in april.

I went out last night and bought myself some salad and one of those small loaves, plus a few other bits. I figure if I spend on food things that will help, I'll save on buying a new dress, so it will even out.
I just need to stay away from Hm bread and my favourite crisps beginning with W!

Apart from the walk I'm going to stay in, do some washing and iron ing and go on the mortgage calculator, my favourite hobby!

I have been playing around on the mortgage calculator today. I'm trying to work out the balance we need to get with saving and oping. We currently don't have a lot of savings , only a couple of thousand.

As of next year, dh should start getting his share dividends again, for the last few years he has got £12K ish a year. Now the best idea would be to part save and part op this. However I'm wondering if its better to use nearly all of it to op, and use my monthly money to save.
I'm a bit worried that the temptation for DH to spend it will be too much if its not been commited to anything.

If we did'nt save at all we could possible with the extra clear the mortgage in less than 10 years, more like 8.
If I paid the interest only and he op'd once a year, it would be cleared in about 13 1/2 years, but we would have possibly £140K in savings.
I feel like we should op most of the money, its just the kids will be hopefully going to uni, and/or wanting their own place and it would be great to help out.

This is all pie in the sky really as who knows how much dh will be earning and how much we might spend on the journey on other things, school trips etc. I just had not considered saving at the same time as oping really, up until now i've had a one track mind of getting rid of the mortgage.

Its a horrble rainy day here! Not sure what to do this weekend, we have nothing planned at all. Feel like having a lazy day, OH is still in bed, so he is doing his best to have a lazy day too!

Its half term now and I had intended to not do much, but I'm already busy every day but friday. My 2 boys have both aquired girlfriends in the last few days at school, and one of them wants to go on a double date with his friend and both their girlfriends to the cinema, They are only 10, I said that he can go but I will be too! I will take ds2 as well and sit further away from them. I just can't believe they have "girlfriends" already, plus I also can't believe they have a better social life than me :D

Yesterday was good for one poll surveys, about 90p's worth, and I have had the heating off all week when the kids are at school, but it gets so cold downstairs without it. Now they are off for a week it wil be on all day unless we are out. Other than that I've not done much moneysaving this week. I hav'nt spent much either, except some food.

I might pop on the oldstyle board and look for some recipes for snacks, as I think a lot of our food budget goes on them. maybe I will bake something today if we don't go out.

I was going to meet my mum/aunt/gran this morning at the shopping centre with the boys, but am going to skip it as I don't have a lot and will end up spending on food and drinks , plus I may be going tomorrow if we go to the pictures. So will let the two of them have a lazy day playing the xbox and watching tv, its a bit naughty , but we do have a fairly busy week planned.

 We have been refused the extra money on the mortgage to get the loft done. This is because we don't pass the affordability. I'm a bit upset and also annoyed that I had so many conversations about dh's wages etc. and they said many times we can go up to £182,500k. They now say thet the most we can borrow is £152K. I can understand a change of a few thousand but £30K is a big difference, all the paperwork was fine and backed up what we said. Its also really annoyed me that had they told me this i would not have spent money on bank statments to send them as proof of income.

Dh's income is the same as it was in may 2011 when we re-mortgaged for £161K we have paid off nearly 10K since then, but we can't even borrow that back.

I'm going off to sulk and have a bit of a cry as I did'nt get my own way, I might come back later if I've cheered up.
