Hello NG,
Enjoyed reading your thread very much.
Found it good humoured and helpful!
Will definitely be showing my OH that she does not every light on in the house (as she claims she does!)
Also quite suprised with The Chelsea, that really is good service if they have done that.

DH and I keep a bit of paper on the side of the fridge where we note down things we would like, so it helps when people want to get us gifts (for example I've lost a sheepskin mitten so have put a new pair on my list). Keep this for future needs?
What about a steamer - nice and healthy for the weight loss? I have a fab salad spinner - great for the better weather as it really dries the lettuce off. Also, for an indulgent kitchen item what about a flexible washing up bowl? For all the times when you want to soak a pan or squeeze a handle into the bowl. I love, love, love mine, still looks great after years of use and think it is worth every penny of it's price tag of around £50 - see the range of fab colours http://www.amazon.co.uk/Normann-Copenhagen-Flexible-washing-up-bowl/dp/B000L0JRY4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1297350864&sr=1-3 I know it might sound crazy but it makes washing up easierI couldn't go back to a hard bowl.
Maybe a snuggly sofa blanket so you can use less heating or one of those blankets that folds up into a cushion? Will keep thinking.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
Absolutely incredible the offer Chelsea have agreed to...after all your dilemmas I guess this must be a sign to go ahead with such a good rate after all?
Onwards and upwards.
Katsu has given some great ideas there..I've never bought a salad spinner, may just invest in one myself...daft how I can get so excited over something like that nowadays :rotfl:"A smile takes but a moment...

that washing up bowl is one of the wierdest things I have ever seen haha. What is the purpose of a salad spinner? is it just to wash the salad and spin the water off?

Mummalove, I am taking it as a sign that we are doing the right thing
Katsu, the the steamer is a good idea , I have'nt had one for years, I'm definatly putting that on my list. The washing up bowl is fantastic, but .
I think it would cause my physical pain to spend that kind of money on it. :rotfl:

yes just started one yesterday so still in the early throws of seeing where I can nip and tuck my finances.
Finding the forum really useful though and a good kick up the back side!
Baby steps is right it moaning or having a complain can be useful at times. I complained to PC world about a broken netbook which was apparently our fault and therefore would cost us £230 to repair (same cost as a new one!). Three page letter of complaint and voila they picked it up and repaired it for free.
I see people mention subscribing to threads. How do i do that?

Hi Lincoln potter, to subscribe, go on the thread, then at the top on the green stripe is "thread tools" click on that and then click "subscribe to thread".
I've just totted up how much I've got left out of this months money and its a sorry £40.20 ( after I've paid £5 for zumba class today). I don't actually know what zumba is as it thought if I look it up I might chicken out, my friend has asked me to try it with her, and I'm more than a bit nervous.
My DD is the one that is bleeding me dry at the moment, she has had £35, plus £3 dinner money plus £4 concert ticket so far this month , plus her phone is on contract paid for by me and I've bought 2 birthday presents for her friends, although she did pay for some of the cost. Its just been an expensive month as she has been out for a friends birthday (cinema and Mc D's) and she had to pay for herself so that did'nt help.
She's very good and has said she'll have packed lunches the rest of the month and won't go out bless her, but I can't keep giving her extra. I think they get through a lot more money than me and my friends used to as they go out at weekends rather than get a saturday job like i had at 13 as they are more strict nowadays and you have to be older.
Anyway, I have to go and get a bottle of water and a towel:eek: ready for my zumba class, wish me luck!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Have fun at the zumba class
I'm assuming its a dance based exercise class?
