I am sure that will be the case eventually lulabelle. I have to say although we are about to start taking advantage of this , it wrong that our staff on lower wages have to pay more tax through Paye. Surely one way of taxing for every type of income would be a much fairer system. But of course, we will still be doing it
Agreed, but don't forget, that your company has already paid Corporate tax on the profits before you take the dividends and then the dividends are taxed again anywhere from 7.5% to 38% (from April), so you really are paying your fair share to the revenue
And, you're giving people jobs0 -
The real savings on using dividends come from no NI payments.
In the past for most people it was Tax neutral.
If you pay yourself just enough to get the NI credit you save 25.8% on NI on around £32k(ish) and 15.8% on over that0 -
Company taxation and shares is something I have never known much at all about (along with pensions!) thanks for the advice
I have managed to spend money today before even getting up, £8.99 and £6.99 on two 50's style swing dresses heavily reduced in the sale at l*indy bop with free delivery. Plus I have ordered them in a size 12 which is a size smaller than I am , so I have to lose weight so I can wear them in summerThey are going to hang with n view in the bedroom until I can wear them as a "look what money you will have wasted " incentive :rotfl:
So, to round up this week :
Non mse stuff:
Buying an iPad

Leaving the heating on overnight after sticking it on to dry emergency school trousers
Buying wine I should not be drinking
Passport for dd -£ an arm and leg.

Lots of lentil curry
Barginous veg
Heating off nearly all the time
Dyed own hair and cut  - it does look really good though surprisingly

Back in the land of mse
. My old iPad developed the same problem again which cannot be fixed, the tiny free one I got with my phone doesn't work properly, so I went out last night and bought an iPad 2 mini.
It's a lot smaller but it was so much nicer using an iPad so after trying to decide all week should I get a £39 cheaply tablet or a new iPad I took the plunge  £219 from mr t as I may buy the care plan for damage from them too (never done this in my life but I have a bad track record ) anyway, I have lots to catch up on now
I have spoken to the accountant , and we are paying ourselves through dividends as well now, it means more income for the moment and hopefully longer term without much extra cost to the business, relatively speaking.
Most business owners do this , but do has only been the sole shareholder for a short while. Business wise it been a very tight this month, we knew it would be but it has to pick up soon hopefully. The extra money will hopefully give us a lots more breathing space with making the mortgage payments.
Spending this week ok except from an iPadit has to be the most spendy January we have ever had - February will be the start month for me this year as Jan has gone so badly.
Can't get the colours working on the iPad which is annoying so will use smileys for colour instead!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Update Jan:
Mortgage £1839
Loan £689
Cc's £78
Back later to update all balances this month as am still in bed and don't have them
I bought the 1st generation iPad mini shortly after it was released.
I love the size of it - it's so portable and will fit in my handbag. I think a normal sized iPad would have been way to big for me.
Muser, It still gets all the IOS updates, so I should imagine the 2 will be ok for some time yetEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Thanks that's good to know.Mortgage Jan 13 99260.00 87253 April 2017

A quiet day today spent washing and looking at the finances (again!)
Non mse stuff:
Heating on all day
Ate more food than I should
Do bought beer and Coke from local shop
Mse stuff:
Batch cooked roast spuds for freezer from mountains we have to get through from farm shop last week
Worked out a new budget - almost the same as the last one but with a bit more oping
No alcohol and nsd for me
Stayed in and watched 2x movies with dd , very lazy!
Can't remember if I mentioned that we are both going to the Harry Potter studio tour again in the Easter holidays, it's visit 4 for me and 5 for dd. This time with best friend and her kids who have never been, Is it ridiculous to still be excited? I am really looking forward to it!
Weight loss has stopped, today I decided that giving up alcohol is the only way I am going to kick start it again, so although it pains me to say it I think I need to do a dry Febmy birthday is 2nd March and I am out for a girls charity fundraising night on the 1st to the Indian restaurant around the corner, so perfect timing to start again :rotfl:
I worked Saturday and so have Monday off this week, I really hate Monday's with a passion , even though I will spend most of the day ironing I am over the moon.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
The cc can be used from tomorrow, so I have just done a big online shop of £103  that's like a xmas shop for us. Mum gave me a book she just bought which she didn't like, deliciously Ella. It's all healthy vegan receipes, so I have ordered Some new things to try, almond butter, almond milk that sort of thing.
So feb's health pledge is:
Be almost completely vegan - sounds daft, but it's too much hassle to not eat bread etc. So it's 99% vegan
Cook from scratch min. 6 days pw for the family, every day for me.
Wear Fitbit everyday and walk min 5k a day (hopefully a lot more)
Lose half a stone
Drink water more
Be alcohol free
Febs non health pledge is:
Be far more organised in the home- evening/morning routines
Spend more on healthy new food and less on everything else
Spend more time chattng to kids in evening - they may not like this :rotfl:
Spend less time bending dh's ear about work/the kids - he will like this :rotfl:
Arrange to see friends as much as possible
Get to bed earlier
Get up earlier
Read a book (this is my shameful secret, I hardly ever read anymore)
That's itMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
