  • OCC, I couldn't fit a pond in our new house garden anyway, so please don't worry about DD being left to fall in! This is a forever home project for when I am an old geezer :)

....when the only worry is you doddering into it!

We had a small but deep koi pond when the kids were very small. I didn't want it, dh did and put a fence round it. It lasted a couple of months as did the rows and then I won and he filled it in! Still can't believe he built it in the first place, must have been a very stubborn phase :rotfl:

    .

    You are very wise!

How's the business going? You should ask about stand we have done things like this and costs vary ALOT we've paid from nothing to £10k so it's worth getting an idea of total costs.

10k  I think it will be a lot too, worth a phone call though and as gg says its a business expense :D Did you find the stands worthwhile? Our product is made to order so I'm nof sure how successful it would be.

Business wise I don't know yet, we may manage by the skin of our teeth to pay one redundancy thats agreed now, we are ticking over but don't have as much work as we need.

I've started dieting twice in the last month or so, just got on the scales tonight and have put on :( some days i'm good and others not. My 100 days to lose three stones may be a little optimistic. So I shall reduce the target into easier smaller chunks.

Half a stone a month, and there are three months to xmas. Its half the previous target and hopefully more achievable.

Diet things i need to do:

Setting monthly targets (3 to start with!)

    So first month:

    Lose 7 pounds
    No alcohol
    Cals: 250 breakfast
    350 lunch
    450 dinner
    200 snacks
Try and get min. 8 hours sleep a night.

Weight loss challenge take three :D

You been at the Goodwood Revival? Not too jealous ... well, OK, that's a thinly veiled lie. I've not been for a number of years but it's a great weekend.

Regarding the ponds, I'm not into all this 'Elf 'n' Safety, nanny state stuff. Everything could be dangerous and plenty of things in the household could easily kill or seriously injure someone (especially a young child). Unfortunately, tragic accidents happen but I don't think it really helps to shield a child away from everything that 'could be' dangerous.

Have to disagree on that one Alex, kids are drawn to water and a minute is all it takes. If you have a pond or pool they have less chance of exploring and playing on their own as they can't be left at all.

A koi pond should be at least 4' deep. Not having one with young children is a no brainer.

Can't say I let my son go running about on our grounds on his own.

Hadn't realised how the pond needed to be that deep.
