Bakewell looks nice bar the rain :D

The Calais suggestion was just for a day trip to stock up  and lunch out ,not a holiday :D

Good for you Alex, sometimes it can take a while to recognise the influence people have over you, especially when it's always been that way. My parents are pretty good at not interfering much which is why I'm a bit confused as to this time!

Ive had a successful day, all washing, ironing and packing done and whole house cleaned except kids rooms. An organised start to the week for a change , plus better than that only milk bought all weekend :D

Mad busy, busier than I've seen it in years. Only passing through to Sheldon tho, much quieter!

I'm not surprised, I always try to avoid it on nice days during the summer. :)

NG: Bakewell is nice :), I spent the whole of my teenage years telling my parents that I could not wait to move to a city, don't know why they live there etc. etc. I then moved to go to university, after a month couldn't wait to get back and used to count down the weeks until the summer. :o

Thanks, I do believe my parents mean well but they so often call my son their 'second chance' and frankly, he isn't.

Good news to hear you've had a very low spend weekend. :)

Alex that is so demeaning to you that they refer to your son that way.

Well done on saying 'no' to your parents about the passports.

It's a small word, but it is REALLY difficult to say, sometimes!

Thanks GG, Im not exactly seen as a wallflower by the family, but you still doubt yourself sometimes!

Alex, its quite hurtful for your parents to say that. Im sure in their eyes its done with love, but the relationship with grandparents is supposed to be very different of that of parent and child.

Due to a past midnight wait for DD to arrive back from theatre last night , I managed to sleep through the alarm (and the twins who still have school!) Luckily we all managed to get to work \school on time (if a little smelly!) End result £2 spent on sarnies for me and DD. Other than that still no spends :T

I'm feeling liberated at the moment, making sure my parents are aware we are struggling before we go away with them is a good thing , although they always knew we went exactly rolling in it :o

If they want to cook on their two nights great, if they want to take us out at all ,I shall gracioulsy except without trying to insist we pay towards it.

Not sure if the parents and DD kids are looking forward to the holiday, DD would rather be in the theatre, but I am looking forward to it and am going to enjoy myself anyway, its taken long enough to save up for ;)

To my parents I'm a terrible disappointment, so yes, they mean it in exactly the way you think. I'm starting to see that it's not their opportunity to choose my son's school / home / hobbies etc. though.

Have a nice time. Where are you going?

Of course it's not up to them to dictate what happens in your sons life, you need to have far more confidence in your abilities as a parent Alex :naughty: and if you cant manage that, then fake it until you do :)

We are off to centerparcs in Sherwood forest for four nights, we have been a few times before but not for a couple of years and never with the parents, could be great........or not

Ds2 is having a mini party tomorrow, his friend rang me tonight to ask if they could take DS to the park while some others set up my house (while I'm at work!) Forva surprise party, I suggested I set up quickly in the morning when he has left for school, I have told DS as I know he would panic at the state of his room :rotfl: ive raided the holiday supplies so the have fizzy, crisps and chocolate , dh will blow up some balloons tonight :D
