Let us know how you get on with ebay and the bank. I was hoping to send a huge OP this month then realised how short that would leave us. I can never quite make it to payday the last few months either.

It is weird how we all have busy functions, etc at the moment. We are also going to a friends 40th up in Birmingham Saturday, so that means a hotel too. Ouch! We then have my niece's christening on Sunday, and I managed to buy a really lovely bargain teddy tatty set on ebay (god I love ebay).

Still...we all work and penny pinch hard, so its nice to have a treat now and again. ;)

newgirly did you win the dress for your DH? fingers crossed for you...

  • We haven't been to the Strictly tour before but i did enjoy watching it on the telly so i am looking forward to it from that point of view. I went to Dancing on ice a couple of years ago with my mum and 2 sisters (Daddys treat) and that was an amazing show so i hope this will be similar.

It is just unfortunate we also had to do a trip to london last weekend for a friends baby's christening, and we have had both cars Mot'd in a week, and bought house insurance.

Our last night out together was last August so i don't think i should begrudge it. Won't happen again for a long time.

Er, the dress was for my DD not my DH mummalove :rotfl:
Either way I got outbid , it went for £37 & £3 P&P. Waay too much, DD was fine about it, we are lucky as she is not a very materialistic 13 yr old. We will keep our eyes open as the perfect dress is out there somewhere.

Michelle, I would LOVE to see dancing on ice, my friend went to the Torville and Dean one at the 02 and loved it. I have'nt been to any thing like that for years, last thing was Dh bought me tickets for simply red , it turned out to be the same night as DD's first (once yearly) parents evening when she started secondary school. We ended up selling them really cheap on ebay, I just would have felt a really bad Mum if I'd gone. In a way I think DH might have been relived that he did'nt have to sit and watch Mick Hucknall.;)

Right, another day indoors trying to avoid the ironing. I've been working out a financial plan for this year. This is assuming we get the extra advance for the loft conversion. The current mortgage was switched to IO starting this month.

    All income: £2470
IO on main part of mortgage £434.81
    IO on further advance £110
Pay off 0%CC £1011 (previously loft saving)
Bills and 4k challenge money £814
    Extra buffer fund £100

This budget will stand until the CC is paid off in July this year
After that the mortgage will go back to repayment, there is a £50 fee for changes , however I can change the term for free if it done at the same time. Due to the larger debt we will extend the mortage (it currently is at 11 yrs 5 mnths). I was torn between doing it over 14 and 15 years.

I've finally decided on 15 years.

Rather premature figures for when the new mortgage starts are:

    Income : £2470
    Mortgage payment £1320
    Bills & 4k challenge £814
    Mortgage op £264
    Buffer fund £ 72

On these figures the potential end date for the mortgage would be June 2023, which would be 3 years 2 years early.

I'm not going to start paying £1k per month chunks from the 0% CC until the new mortgage has completed as if we don't get it we will start saving like crazy instead.

The buffer fund is new and due to the fact that I'm trying to spend 4K this year on groceries/clothes/ presents and all other misc. bits, and its the first month of the challenge and its very hard :D
hopefully I won't need to dip into it on a regular basis.

Thanks smlsave, I'm, not sure how possible will be to stick to 4k though, this month has been really dear with birthdays and nights out.

I found a georgeous dress online for DD yesterday, she wanted a pixie lott one which are not cheap there were a couple she liked , one was then one that went for £51 on ebay. But after a good 1 1/2 hours trawling the internet I found one for £25 +delivery reduced from £75, and I can get a refund in branch if it does'nt fit.
I told her and she said she will have it for her birthday in July bless her, I feel a bit guilty keeping it until then but she wants to wear it when she goes out for her birthday with friends.
As I don't have money in the budget this month for dresses I've borrowed it from next month :p

Today I am helping a friend do a cleaning job , only an hour but its £10 so will go towards the night out friday, only problem is I think she wants to go to the 99p store after as its on the way home, for some reason every time I go there I end up spending £25 ish!

    Hi Newgirly

its great that you are so organised with your budget, i shall try to stick to mine a bit better this year. I find that i can do it for a couple of months and then it all goes a bit haywire :rotfl:

Good news that you finally found a dress for your DD. she will appreciate it all the more as you have been looking for a while. Something nice for her to look forward to :A

I do know what you mean about the 99p store  i`m exactly the same but its usually money saved in the long run :D

I`m going to organise my meal planner this afternoon as i`ve done so much swapping about between the days that i`m not sure what we will be eating for the next week or so, once thats done i shall put on my gloves and update the freezer list - thats another thing that seems to get out of control quickly lol.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
