But, I need to relocate and where I work and where my children now go to school (45 miles away from my house) the house prices are about £50k more for a smaller house than what I have. Going backwards (bigger mortgage, smaller house) in one way and forwards in another (no transport costs and low childcare).
No matter what though, I will always overpay by at least £250 a month - even if the interest rates go to 7%. Hope they take their time doing that and don't go higher.
Oh and good luck with your dream. Your budget looks a bit like mine, only you have high gas/electric and water costs.
Hi optimist 68 , that's an old post you have quoted! I wish you all the best re locating that's a big commute to school  quality of life has to be the priority, it's no good having your perfect home if you are never there to enjoy it. Do you have a diary as if so I'll pop in and have a read? Anyway best of luck.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi newgirly
I'd personally go for the turf option too - our neighbours love the astro stuff, but DH can't stand it. Would the dog not be less likely to trash it now she's not a puppy? Or is it being trashed from where she wees? - You can get some stuff to treat the grass for where she wees, I think...
Good luck with the tightened purse strings - we have bus costs for next year of £440 ish for DD that I need to come up with... I'll be joining you on the restricted spending!xx

Hi lgp and greent, thanks for popping in. I think the dog might not run about as much as before but she will probably dig holes
Spends so far this week are:
£20 exactly on petrol to top back to full
£44 ald* food
£3.99 mac for dd's trip to reading festival
£30 given to dd to buy some clothes for above mentioned festival as its student discount day tomorrow, it's not much but its a start.
It's been a Stressful day at work , we had a rather "interesting" customer in who happens to be a ukip candidate locally, let's just say he had some very colourful views, which ended with women should never have been given the vote  had to go outside with a coffee and calm down after.
Anyway it wasn't all bad as a local unit opened who offered a free lunch trial today, so I got a box filled with salad, potatoes, rice etc. usual cost £5 though and the box was the size of a small tub of butter, very expensive seen as we are on an industrial estate in East London not a posh part of the city.
Off to the gym tonight even though I would prefer a nice bath and an early night :AMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
What is it with these UKIP people? Not a day goes by without some outrageous and unacceptable comments.
I don't agree with any of their policies.... But Nigel Farage does have some entertainment value!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Where have the last few days gone ? this week has flown by
I have been a very bad mse 'er tonight , a few months ago I booked tickets for dd and I to see a live theatre broadcast at the cinema of king Lear. I forgot all about it until 5pm tonight when I was out, we could have made it just in time but we both felt tired plus it was 3 1/2 hours long, plus a half hour in traffic in the rain. Unfortunately no one else wanted the tickets so it was £31 down the drainvery naughty!
We had a lovely dinner at mums last night while the boys all went to see cinema , Greek vines , falafel , veggie moussaka and dips. It was all shop bought (not complaining as it was lovely) but I might have a go at making some Greek food Myself soon, I seem to remember making falafel from a girl called jacks blog and they were quite easy.
Oh, made a £1 mortgage op todayMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

I had tickets for last nights King Lear up here in the NE and we nearly didn't go either:o. DH was tired after work and it is very long like you say. I did enjoy it though and luckily the cinema is 5 minutes from the house:).Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
