Hi hun, how are you? Is it the turf laying weekend this bank holiday?
I was telling a friend today how chuffed I was with my turf laying and he told me that I'd made the best choice in not using seed as his seeded grass was nothing but weeds while his turfed area was perfect, not only did it make me happy but I also thought of you and your grass
Just thought I'd shareCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Hi smlsave hope you are all well , up nice and early I see  the turfing hasn't started yet we are still at the bicker as to whether to hire a skip vs. go to the tip in the van for free stage , guess which side I'm on :rotfl:
There is so much rubble etc. to get rid of. We need to run a row of patio slabs in front of the log cabin so that's another £50 which I had not budgeted for , oh well it's still coming in at £150 which is pretty good to remove a decked garden, and turf it.
Went to aldi today and spent £50 , bought some compost to plant my courgettes in, plus some rose wine at £2.59 a bottle. It's only 8% and I don't drink rose usually but I thought it worth a try at that price. Bought mil some flowers to take tonight and dh had decided he doesn't want to go, not sure that will go down well ,I may have to try and convince him as his brother is visiting from lincoln.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
A staggering number of my TG think Nigel Farage is the chancellor of the exchequer.0

Oh dear! Although to be fair I only knew who most politicians were growing up because of spitting image :rotfl:
No dinner at the inlaws tonight , dh couldn't get through until 5.30 and was told they were eating. At 6.pm. We couldn't get to them until 7 so we left it, mil did offer to cook us something else later (to eat on our own) all a bit odd really seen as we were invited , plus it was a lasagne which I'm guessing could be kept warm. Oh well , end result a bogof takeaway pizza £17.50 which was very nice
Garden is no further on , the day was spent getting the turf and paving slabs, dh's friend has finished helping now so its going to be much harder to motivate him, plus tomorrow we are Invited to lunch at my parents, twice in one week now!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Lovely dinner at parents yesterday and too much wine, so much so that on my Monday morning weigh in I am exactly the same as last week
so I've decided to switch to a tues weigh in instead as Sundays are always a day when I eat more! The plan is to not diet but try and be a bit healthier and target is to lose any amount of weight pw as long as its something(even 0.1 lb) eventually if it goes down a bit I will get smaller
Garden is a slow process, the row of patio slabs is down but no turf yet, it has to be done today though or it will die. Plus we still have decking on the old patio to take up and a few van loads of rubble/rubbish to move.
To do list today is:
Help dh if he needs it
Wash blazers
Do all washing /iron enough for school
Check current accounts
Hope envy one is having a good bank holMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Busy day, we went to a local fete to see the classic cars, finished the turf and patio (well dh did) , bought more turf and topsoil up finish it as we ran out, took dd to 2x friends - morning amd afternoon, cleaned up a lot of mud in the kitchen and hall, did washing /blazers,
made a £6 op, planted up the courgettes and coriander in new £1land pots I bought weeks ago, checked the accts and finally cracked open the Xmas saving tin to buy ds1's football season ticket. It's his b'day in July so he will ask for money to pay for it from everyone if they offer, it's just cheaper to buy way in advance. Ticket was £255 this year  I had £241 in the tin which is not bad since January :T
Dh is out with dad who has seen an mg roadster for sale at the car show and like you do, gone to buy it(dad not dh of course!) mum is against it and won't have an old banger on the drive so it will come and live with us until he buys or Rents a garage nearby.
I love them as we used to have a midget a few years ago that we couldn't afford to keep anymore, it was our silly spending days though when we had 3 x cars and no moneydad has had a few over the years , happy memories of me and mum push starting it in the snow so he could get to work.
It's almost as exciting as getting a new pet, I hope they don't come home empty handed !MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Oops not posted since Monday , it's been a manic week. Dad didn't buy the car in the end, he decided he wouldn't get time to drive it.:(
I am itching for payday this month (24th) as it will be the first proper month that we can make a big debt repayment this year - £1285 off the cc is the planI am struggling a bit with the weekly budget though as I paid for the turf and extra bits this month, so am down to minus £8 this week , I will draw out next weeks money today instead of Monday as I need a top up shop.
Off to do some cleaning and then out round a friends for a catch up tonight with the girls I used to meet for lunch every week, before I went back to work boo!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I manged to spend £88 in ald* yesterday on food and only one bottle of wine its my most expensive shop there yet.
Today dh is working as we have a backlog, I'm off to the gym first thing , then tonight we are at a freind from work's wedding vowel renewal do (Just the evening though as the church but was quite a distance). I think its romantic, but dh and the guys from work keep asking the bloke which one of them had the affair :rotfl: they had better be on best behaviour!
I'm fed up with not having any money to spend at the moment, I want to take the kids out soon and buy some new trainers for the boys and clothes for them all. I usually buy the odd bits here and there when needed but never to the big shop for loads of new bits thing any more. I shan't do it still as I need to be very tight this year to clear all debts , but next year I think I will loosen the reins quite a bit.
If we carried on being tight like we are this year then in theory we could clear the mortgage in the official term left ( 7yrs 11mths I think) but that would mean little or no holidays , no second car for dd to be able to use too etc. and no new trainers when I want to buy them! I don't think its worth the sacrifice, so will see how we go this year managing on a lower budget and then extend the term if we need to next year.
Some good news is our planned Disney trip, it was booked a year ago and was a buy 2 night get 2 nights and tickets free deal £1344 for 5 of us in the school summer hols Staying at disneyland Davy crocket ranch. I paid £200 deposit and was going to cancel as we want to clear the debts , when I rang them this week though they have said I can switch the hol to next year, so seen as I'm 40 and dd is 18 next year it would make a great family treat to celebrate, plus if I book for the Easter hols instead they are still doing the same deal and it's about £350 cheaper :j I shall sort it out today, but feel so relived as I was feeling very guilty for cancelling this year and it gives us a little time to save the first couple of months next year.
Off to get ready for the gym, sorry I've not been up to date catching up on diaries this week , hope everyone is okMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
You have to be able to live as well. Maybe new trainers will come another way.0
