    We had a good night out last night and a nice day today at the harry potter studios. It was snowing outside there (fake of course :D) very festive. The boys and dh were slightly grumpy , unlike dd who squealed her way round for the 3rd time taking litereally 100's of photos :rotfl:

    I've also been round my parents to set the table for tomorrow and dropped off some of their presents to people for them. Tonight we are having a family ready prepared roast dinner, although now I've just cracked open the chilli peanuts not sure I fancy it. The reindeer bedclothes are about to go on our bed and dd and I are wearing our new matching xmaspj's if they dry in time on the radiator :D

    They thing missing this year is ba*leys, it was too expensive at £17 a bottle when I spotted it so we don't have any :(

    I hope everyone is having a good Xmas eve, and I would love to wish everyone a merry Xmas and say thanks for taking the time to read my diary and comment , it really is much appreciated. Also thanks to all the lovely mfw's with diaries which I have read over the last year, it's like a real little family , with so much support and lots of great ideas.

    Oh dear slushy and I've not had any wine yet :rotfl:

    Happy Xmas :xmastree::xmastree::xmastree::xmastree::xmastree::xmastree::xmastree::xmastree:

    I hope everyone had a great Xmas, ours went ok as can be expected when spending it with extended family :rotfl:

    Dh is off at the O2 today with my brother and friends to see the hobbit, dd is also at the cinema and the boys are lounging around playing video games so its my first day of no going out or entertaining - bliss. :D

    So far I have eaten chocolate cake , watched the 7th harry potter and gone through the current accounts. The cake and film were good , the accts not so good :( I have overspent by £109 so need to make it up, not great considering we are starting 2014 with a reduced budget for the first 5 mths whilst we clear the first cc. Luckily I did get some money back for the kids Xmas presents I'd already bought from the inlaws plus £25 for me to buy something, so that will just about cover it.

    I feel like we have tons of food in at the moment, but in reality lots of it will go off in a day or two and not much of it can be frozen well. I will have a rummage and see what can be saved as I think I will try to do a super frugal January again this year, can't quite remember of I did it last year, I think so. So I'm thinking of £150 plus £20 cash all in :eek: I will put some petrol in before I start so hopefully that will last the month, so it's only food and pet food plus miscellaneous bits.

    I used to hate the time after Xmas but before new year, now I love it as its great to make new plans and write out all the finances etc. in my new diary , sad or what :p

  • Hello Newgirly

    Saw on one of your last posts that you didn't buy Ba*ilys because of the price. Ald* do a equivalent called Ballycastle and all the girls at work are buying it as they cannot tell the difference. ( I don't like B*) Its £4.29 a bottle and no I don't work for the supermarket.

    Mortgage value was £135,000 now £43,218
    TCB total £1200

    Hi lgp, thanks for that however I did receive 2x bottles for Xmas ,I will bear it in mind for next year though :D

    Hi SD hope you had a good Xmas.

    I just worked out that my January budget (runs from today when I can use the cc again- 27th jan) is £3.40 a day :eek: this could be one of those mini challenges that is doomed to fail, but I will try , even if I don't manage it , it will make for a much more frugal first month.

    I have forgotten to include the 3x birthdays in jan I have to buy for though, so will not include those otherwise there will be not a lot left. :o

    Dh does not know about this budget for the month, I think its best to pretend all is as normal and just put more effort in behind the scenes (cooking etc.) he will go along with me sorting the finances and trying to clear the debts, but would be much happier if I said let's go and buy that sports car on the cc you have always wanted :rotfl:
