Hi newgirly:wave:
Just read your diary and I'm exhausted - don't know how you manage to fit it all in:)
We're on a very similar income and mortgage payments, so I'm keen to see how you're managing, as I'm seriously not keeping to budget.

Hi littleg, just spotted you have a diary so I will try and catch up on it
Thanks for the comments but I really am not doing that well this year with the oping, last year was much better!
Today I had to go and buy short sleeve school shirts for the boys, whilst out I thought I would have a mooch around monsoon (I have never bought in there before but like to look) and ended up buying an actual monsoon dress :j its an old fashioned forties style red dress covered in umbrellas, sounds odd but looks nice! and the best news is that not only did I manage to squeeze in a 12 , it was 1/2 price at £24. Its sad but it has made my day.
Other pleasures in my day today were my riverford fruit and veg boxes were delivered, so I read the receipe leaflet and made a courgette/tomato/potato & onion gratin which was nice and dh also had giant mushrooms stuffed with cheese and couscous. Its nice to get the nudge to think about new things to cook as we eat the same things all the time. I think I will make it a regular thing as I am so sick of cr*ppy fruit from the shops lately, I threw away so many apples last week as they were covered in bruises and inedible.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

What!!! You mean you didn't peel and core them, chop off the mouldy bits and freeze them fpr a crumble or pie?!:eek::eek::eek::eek: Shame on you, newgirly!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Sometimes life is too short... and if too much crumble is eaten you may not fit intp your new dress(sounds fab, btw - and a total bargain!)

Next month its back to repayment :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi greent, I am way too lazy to fiddle with manky apples
I have posted my end of month round up as there is definatly no more cash going anywhere this month ( or next possibly) I currently have exactly £100 in change and £72 in the bank , that has to pay for school dinners / petrol and a couple of weeks organic fruit and veg boxes until I can use the card again, plus all other shopping and daily spends. I should be able to do it, but ill have to keep a close eye and leave the cards at home AT ALL TIMES
MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Leaving the card at home did'nt go well today, we needed red paint and a curtain rail for the twins room, however I took dh so we ended up getting brushes/rollers etc. and it cost over £50. So I'm well and truely stuffed now. To top it off the little watsits complained about the colour ( which matches all their new stuff) and want red/white/blue not red/white. So as they already have blue up I shall leave one grubby blue wall there.
Everyone is out and about at the moment at various parks and I am decorating and waiting for the inlaws to turn up.Well actually i'm mooching on mse
Dh bought a bottle of white wine which is chilling in the fridge , how early is too early to open it?, and can I open it early if the inlaws show up :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
So much to catch up on!
Your gratin recipe sounds yummy, any chance of sharing? (the recipe, not the final product!)
Did you decorate your dd's bedroom in the end? We have just had work done and as non MSE as it is I am hiring professionals to do the rest of the decorating, it just takes too long with little ones about and of course an amateur finish isn't as good. Just a shame decorators don't strip the wallpaper for you!
Your Monsoon dress is a bargain and I should think it'll have a good re-sale value on ebay when you're finished with it.
You'll be fine on repayment mortgage and it'll be reassuring to see the capital coming down.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi cath, nice to see you, hope all is well with you and the family.
We decorated dd's bedroom ourselves ( well I did it actually!) Its such a small room it did'nt take long.We are 3/4's of the way through doing the twins room at the moment, but its not fun especially in the heat.
The gratin was just layered up thinly sliced courgette/potato/ tomato and onion , sprinkled with oregano (I used mixd herbs) and seasoned, drizzled with olive oil and baked for 50 mins. You are supposed to sprinkle the courgette and tomatoes with salt first then wipe clean to remove excess liquid, sorry i forgot that bit.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
