- do all washing
- check accounts are correct
- tidy and swish living room and hall
- clean and tidy main bedroom and try and get the £20 that is stuck down the back of my bedroom drawers

Hello,
I think you are sensible to go formthe bigger mortgage payments over the shorter term even though it will be tight. The reality is that even when we think we are being careful, there will still be slack to cut. We all just live to what we have, and you will do the same. And as you are focused on continuing to have fun, I am sure you will do so! As for oh, mine is the same and I just have stopped getting annoyed by it, as I know he won't change. At least they are just small amounts if it is chocs, crisps etc. my oh is always tempted by wine on special, but never buys clothes, tools, DVDs oe anything else at all so it could be a lot worse!
All the best,
Squirrel:jPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks SSS,its hard being careful all the time, and you do need treats every now and then. However I would rather have planned for treats doing something really enjoyable eg. spend £25 on petrol and a packed lunch and go to chessington as we did saturday, than spend £25 on a takeaway friday night thats gone in 30 mins. We are all in the habit now, but for some of us the OH's are still not there yet
I think I may soon lose some of the lovely people who pop in to read my diary soon, as I think I am going to be moaning that I have no money all the time! Its hard work living on a very restricted budget, I really feel for those people who have no other option but to do this long term, its very different from choosing this short term to fit in with your own plans.
Unfortunatly I spent a few days budget in mr t's at the weekend mainly on cheap 3-4-2 shampoo and half price shower gel, I got a little carried away. I had been building up a tiny surpluss from my £7 a day budget to use as petrol money to get us to thorpe park this week, but thats gone , plus dd has been made a prefect at school ( very proud!) but she needs different special blouses, so I have to get a couple of those this week.
I will have to pinch a bit of my "pay off the 0% cc" money to pay for the extra this week, I feel like I have failed before I have even startedmind you starting on half term week was probably not the best idea thinking about it!
One little job I did manage to get done this weekend was I finally joined the mc cain webite nto, should I check in every day?
Oh, and a £1 mortgage op made, which will make all the difference :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Thanks everyone, I am feeling a bit more positive today
Today is the day I'm taking the kids to thorpe park, they are all still in bed and it looks a bit chilly and damp, I know it sounds daft but I do feel a bit nervous, I don't often go for bigger days out on my own with them and I hate seeing them get on massive scary rides
I have squeezed petrol money to go ( and for school blouses ) from this months council tax, I split over 12 months instead of 10 usually , so start paying 2 months early, I have pinched some from this month's and will even it out over the next 7 months by upping the amount I pay by reducing the amount I pay on petrol, blimey that sounded confusing! End result no borrowing from the 0% cc money.
Off to make the lunches now and try and get some washing on, hope everyone is having a good 1/2 term week. Can't believe its summer and I am still wearing my long boots, just glad we could'nt go camping this week, I think it would have put me off for life. :rotfl:
Oh dear, have just seem the forcast and it heavy rain and 70mph winds today/tomorrow. I am going to be very unpopular today, but I really don't think heights and stong winds go together, wish me luck telling the troops!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Have you decided to give it a miss?? The weather down South does look bad for the next couple of days. I'm sure Thorpe Park would close rides anyway if it's really wet & windy.
I'll be still reading when you get all moany as well ~ us moaning minnies have to stick together!! :rotfl:'A watched potato will never chit'...0
