Yes we are leaving it today, have checked a few weather wesites just incase one says its going to be fine! But it looks really bad and I don't want to waste all the petrol to get there.
Ds 1 already asking to go to the shopping centre to spend his pocket money from gran, I may have to give in at least it will be warm.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I would have called it off to given the weather forecast. Hope you've found something fun to do instead.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Glad we didn't go now! Its been horrible and wet this afternoon. I took the twins to town instead, bought some sweets and a couple of dvd's in the charity shop.
The veg box turned up today , well fruit and veg this week, and I realised that I still had 2 butternut squash, 2x courgettes and a bag of spinach left from last week, so I made 4 different curry dishes for friday night (along with some frozen veg) The best one was butternut squash and chickpea made with value curry sauce and coconut milk, sounds gross but test tasted it and it was divine.:D
Its so much more fun cooking when you feel like it , not when you have to!
Have had a mini "pep" talk with dh tonight, we should cut out the regular toot we buy that we don't even appreciate that much and focus on oping and family cheap days out etc.He is on my wave length, at least he said he was before he popped round the shops for chocolate and crisps :rotfl:

Well we made it to thorpe park today, but not for long! we arrived at 10am which was good, but after eating lunch at 12 ds1 had very bad pains where his appendix is, he could barely walk so we took him to first aid where I had to buy calpol (I had packed a first aid kit and paracetamol, but he would not swallow them) he lay down for 1/2 hour looking like he was dying, then said he was a bit better, so due to us being an hour and a half away,we came home to be on the safe side.
Once home he felt well enough to eat haribos and has just gone to town with dh. All I can say its a good job we have annual passes, as paying over £200 to get in for a couple of hours would have made it worse.:D
So now I have had to promise to go back next week, not just to thorpe, but chessington as well as ds2 could'nt go on most of the big rides as he is a bit wussy like me.:rotfl:
Money is going well, only spent £4 on parking, dh bought the calpol, and again we took all food and drinks.
I am off to scour the house for old gold to sell, as I need to earn an extra £300 per month to the the 0% cc by the end of this year, which seems to me an impossible task!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Yes nto, £4 at thorpe park, it was £6 at alton towers a day when we went! What a cheek when some are paying £42 odd on the day to get in. Legoland not as bad at £2 a day but it was parking in a muddy waterlogged field.
I am really enjoying taking the kids to the theme parks though, they have only ever been once to thorpe park and once to chessington before when my parents came and paid years ago. But with a nearly 15 year old it is the ONLY thing she wants to do with us really! Even the cinema is a no-no incase you are seen by friends out with your parents :rotfl:
Already wondering how we could finance them for next year and get dh to agree to it. We are all fine to skip holidays for rollercoasters
On another note a moral dilema: I have found dh's 2nd wedding ring (he is on his third, ring not wife:p) can I sell it ? like wise a ring my parents bought when I was a teenager that I no longer wear? Feel a little bit guilty , but not that much.:oMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Could you not start saving your clubcard vouchers to exchange for at least 1 or 2 of them. Im appalled that you are charged now for parking.Shame on you Tussaud's group :mad:MAKE £2022 in 2022 no 29 £2022/£434.10

Hi Newgirly
Ive lurked on your thread for a while now and just wanted to say what an inspiration you are... We have a similar monthly income to you but somehow we never seem to have enough money, even to pay our few debts let alone overpay on our mortgage too. I think in our case it is all the 'toot' you refer to that we spend on that doesn't help. For instance, today I had to go and buy cards and gifts x 4 for Fathers Day (my DH, my DAD, DH dad and DH stepdad) - came out of Tescos £53 lighter  Admittedly a few extra things did sneak into the basket, but thats my problem
Regarding the Gold, I wouldn't have a problem with the Wedding Ring, but the ring from your parents I would find harder to part with even if I hadn't worn it for yearsEmergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -
I'd be tempted to keep the wedding ring in case he needs a 4th!!
You could give the ring from your parents to your daughter as a bribe to allow you to be seen in public with her!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

I'd be tempted to sell both rings, but maybe check with your DD first if she does want the one from your parents.
I've been having a root around for old gold & there's a couple of things that my parents bought me that I'm going to sell, including a very old fashioned signet ring (no way would either of my DDs want that!!) & some broken items. I have to say I don't feel guilty about selling them, does that make me a bad daughter?!I've got my late Mum's engagement ring & a couple of other bits of her's that I'd never part with though.
