Yes it is the same birthday, but we have done really well on a fairly low budget, balloons/decs/hair and nails/handmade cake /posters/bit of food/invitations all in £200. :beer:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Not so good this month as i bought 5 merlin annual passes, so that used up all the savings from my up your income challenge that had not been op'd. I managed an extra £65 off with what was left.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
The party went well last night, we had about twenty or so not turn up though which ws a shame, the food was fantastic for the money there was loads. I spent most of yesterday feeling ill , I caught what ds2 had when off school the other day, high temperature, bad chest etc. so decided to power on through by having a few glass of wine, which did see me through the evening ok.:D Feeling rough today though and managed to get dh to bring me toast in bed.
All going well re the petrol situation we should be going to alton towers on friday, I am wondering whether to take them all to chessington this week as well, might as well make the most of it.
We have been looking at tents on and off last year and a few times this year as well, we did have one but my little brother borrowed it last year to use abroad and I'm not sure where it is now. It did let the bugs in though so I would prefer a better one.
All the ones we like are a LOT of money, some around £900 , even on flea bay the one we liked which wa second hand went for just under £600. But today I spotted a nice 10 man one online on offer at a local supplier for £279 down from £600, so we might go and have a look this afternoon. I never have been that into camping, but love the idea of cheap last minute breaks and getting a bit of peace and quiet and family time together.
We have spent so much money though this year, probably should stop really.:o I am just trying to do more fun stuff before they all get too old.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Well done on doing the round up. You're in the right place AND covered the passes. Well done.
We love camping NG and really if you take food/drink/games from home you can go really cheaply. You can't beat an easter egg hunt in the sunshine of a quiet site!
The big brands are pricey but have you tried Go Outd00rs? They seem good. Our huge tent (8 man) was about £200 off a store on EBay. Does the job when we are camping with friends and not using the van.
So pleased about the party..and sorry you're feeling unwell. Hope you perk up soon.MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Thanks brizzledfw, we did not go looking for tents as I couldn't move from the sofa. I did drag myself to the doctors hoping for antibiotics but got a blooming throat spray, feeling rough today still, such a shame its while the kids are off.
My mum has taken the boys to the local shopping centre where they are allowed off on their own for an hour, I think she is a bit worried incase they disappear, but they have a mobile and know their way around ok.
I will spend the day catching up on diaries, trying to look for more ideas for dh's 40th and do a bit more financial planning, with feet up of courseMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I am feeling a bit better today, dh has taken dd tonight to see " the cabin in the woods" via sky preview tickets. It will be the last time though as I cancelled sky movies.:(
It seems ages since I did any earning or moneysaving, however I haven't really spent much lately. I did go to the supermarket today, but emptied my piggy into the coinstar machine (I know, but its easier than driving to town/parking etc.) which almost exactly covered what I bought which was about £35.

Glad you're starting to feel better x0

We have had a exhausting couple of days, Alton towers was great and the premier in was also very good, we did spend lots on rather unhealthy food though, but it was well worth it.
We may even go back for halloween, if I an get cheap hotel rooms again.:D
It has been a nice change doing something we would not normally do, and it has made me think about spending a bit more on the kids while they are just about young enough to be seen with us (well 2 of them are!)
MF is such a long way away from us even if we are totally frugal, (9-10 years) and longer if we extend the house or splash out a bit more, I need to decide what to do next, I am thinking of perhaps allowing a bit extra for treats, but still keeping a tight grip on everything more mundane, ie food
Anyway, hope evryone is having a great easter!

Glad you had a good time,
Life is hard sometimes, we are all striving to be debt free and or mortgage free and something has to go and thats normally fun...
You need to make the best decision for you and your family.I really wish i had been a bit more sensible with all the other things, then maybe we would be in a better position now.
What did you decide to do about the tent, did you find one ?
