No, treat yourself and your family - it's a lot of extra usage for just over double. Make it MSE by promising to take picnics but I insist you go for it :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

sorry your not going to get talked out of it by me, a few years ago we had one oh.dd dg1 dg2 and me and we used it all the time. DD and i would go on a Sunday morning to thorpe its only 35 mins away.We would go on the big rides then go home. London eye, dungeons, aquarium ( sealife) youve earnt your money back in one day doing both those on the Southbank.
Once you have made the initial outlay your days out then become as cheap or expensive as you want to make them.Take a picnic and its only costing you teh petrol.
You do have to pay a little bit for the Halloween fright nights but well worth it.
Once we are straight i will save my clubcard points up for them.

    :j I've bought them !

I massive £438  we will collect from legoland this weekend hopefully if DH is not working. It feels strange spending all that money and its only because we have already decided to go to AT for easter.

Now the fun bit is done, the tough bit is working out how to pay for it as painlessly as possible. I think I will try and have a super frugal spending month until around the 14th april when I can use the cc again. I can use my birthday money to but fruit and veg/milk etc. hopfully scrounge a bit of petrol money if I am desperate from dh, and use some of my " up your income 2012 " money.

My target was £167.66 pm on that and so far I have made:

    jan : £350.32
    feb: £271.99
    march:£ 108.94 so far =£731.25

I have op'd £400 of this so far, the left overs were supposed to go towards dh's birthday, I will just have to catch up over the next few months.

How exciting, you will get it paid off you always manage to pull something out of the bag.
Legoland is about 30 mins away from us, we used to take the littleones there on a saturday afternoon, far more exciting than the park.
    Ooh i want one now;)

Only just seen this but I would have said go for it too. We have just renewed our zoo membership and only have to go 4 times for it to pay for itself. The main benefit is being able to justify just going for an hour or two though. Unfortunately I'm not organised at taking picnics so end up spending but our last visit we didn't spend a penny!

I wish we lived down south (not that I could afford a house) but would love a family day out in Legoland.

Thanks cath, I still feel a bit in shock at spending that much, it just does not feel mse at all, but we are within 2 hours or less than nearly all of them, and not much over an hour from thorpe park, chessington, legoland and all the london ones.

Mine will not be that mse though as I am the coward that ends up watching and holding the bags :D

Merlin pass is definitely worth it! I got Legoland only, as my LO is only 2 yr old, and I wanted to buy Merlin for this summer but got pregnant instead:rotfl:

My pass was 'free' after just 2 visits, so I'll definitely renew it once I got over the shock of having baby again:D

Could you not treat it as a family gift and snatch the money from birthdays pot? Just a thought....

Also, how on earth you manage to have a grocery spend of just £250 with kids? My food alone was £350 last month, never mind the rest! Are you on diet or something???:o
