Well, after a day of heavy rain we still managed to have dd's hawaiian party last night. It went really well, better than expected, we had 20+ teenagers, a lot of them boys and they were a fantastic bunch, all up dancing all night, my two ds's acted as barmen all evening serving them drinks.
My brother and sister inlaw came round very early to get their daughter this morning , but did'nt leave for hours, so I am off to a late start and with dh at work I have to clear up alone.
I have just scrubbed the floor with a scourer which has finished me off for the moment.
This afternoon we are going to see harry potter courtesy of my parents and I really can't wait, we are all potter mad in this house. I shall just have to deal with the mess tomorrow when they are all back at school and work.
My 2 ds have decided the definatly want the same party next sat for their birthdays, we have some drinks left over and the decorations can stay up so we are half way there already.
I have not had time to give mortgage stuff a thought for the last few days, I will have to catch up more with everyones diaries in the week, hope every one is having a good weekend.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I'm glad your DDs party went well. Sounds good you have a lot of the stuff in already for the boys, but I would get them all involved in helping to tidy up. Sounds a lot of work.0

The party went really well, all the kids had a great time dancing all night, a nice well behaved fun bunch, my two boys were good as barmen all night too.
It went so well we are now having a repeat performance for the twins birthdays this sat coming! More food to buy and another costco cake to order.
Yesterday we all went to see harry potter courtesy of my parents which was fantastic, so good i think I might have to go and see it again, not wery MSE i know, but it was so good.
I still haven't done a proper food shop for ages, i've been shopping at mr t express, which does limit choices and is dearer. However i have had some great whoopsies, lots of hovis bread at 15p, 3x finest spicy couscous 21p, sarines 11p. I think I will pop in there later in the eve as it is local and try and find out when they put out the reductions as they go fast.
The one poll money went in my acct today at last so I have a £40 op to make now , hooray.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Having a good day today, ordered the cake and bought all cards and paper. Also went in the next sale and got 4 tops for £10 in the sale for me for my hols, unfortunatly the weight loss is not happening at the moment so i don't have much that fits.
Even better than that though, I popped into grabbit, and someone posted a deal for sky customers (I'm still on the basic package), for 2 months free trial for all the movie channels, summer holiday heaven.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have been taking a look at the finances again today, I have split the cost of repaying back the overdraft over 3 months instead of 2, so will pay off £653 this month, plus I am clearing the 0% card over the next 12 months which is £403 PM, so july's op's are only from free money, so far I have paid £40 from onepoll and £2.95 from TCB.
Today I have also had confirmed that we can get child tax credit , they have backdated it but instead of a lump sum have included it in our monthly payment , so we now get £44 PM
I have also got to payout on VO and ordered a £10 boots voucher for xmas presents, and managed to order a swagbucks (thanks Michelle) £5 amazon voucher, for xmas again.
The extra money I had this month from paying the O/D over an extra month has basically been spent on the kids birthdays, I think I have everything covered now for the boys party this weekend, only cake/buns and burgers to top up on and I have put the money aside.
The holidays are almost here and the thing i need to plan is the food budget/ shopping, and some sort of idea of what i will do with them all for 6 weeks! definatly a couple of cinema trips, but they are getting a bit old for the kids club ones. Vue are doing 2-4-1 orange weds, plus give a 25% dicount mon-thurs before 5pm, so will probably do that.
The biggest expense is legoland, I have got 2x BOGOF's but it will still be around £73 to get in . DS 2's birthday treat I promised him as ds1 apparently has chosen their birthday treat every year (I think not, but i must be a soft touch!)MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
You are a soft touch with the kids, but then aren't we all. I snuck a few bits in the trolley for my two the other day, and DH said to me I thought you said it was the kids who want stuff in the shops.
It's just the treats get bigger the older they get.
We are due some money back from CTC too after DH rang up the other day with our last years figures again. No idea what we will get, but it is a lump sum for us. Hope it comes through quick.0 -
The holidays must be such an expensive time with older school age children. I used to love going to the local playscheme, do they still have those? I can't imagine it would have cost much or I wouldn't have been able to go!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

I don't think there are any play schemes near us cath.
I'm going to try and not plan too much this holiday, usually I have a diary of where we will go and what we will do each summer.
We are away for 1 week this year, so other than that I shall plan a couple of cinema trips and meet up with other mums , but try and keep it low key. My lot are more than happy to mooch about the house playing games/watching tv/listening to music etc. I think as they are about to start big school they will need all the rest they can get before hand. DD will no doubt be out and about with friends a lot.
I can't believe the boys only have 2 days of school left, they are both in the leavers play on friday, there are going to be tears!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
What a hectic week, they twins are at their school leavers BBQ in the rain at the moment. Tomorrow we are going to watch them both in the leavers play, they did it today in front of the yr5 's and 8 of the teachers cried, I'm going to be a mess tomorrow when they finally leave.
I have a million things to do before the party sat night, and the house needs a good clean and tidy, I figured it was better to do work for dh this week , as if I clean up too early it will need doing again before the weekend.
Had to spend a bit today on presents for teachers, plus a couple of bits toward grans 80th in a couple of weeks, I am also making her 2x sock monkeys but have not finished the first one yet. That will have to be done next week though.
I do hope the weather picks up soon, I love winter and the night's drawing in , but it would be nice for the kids to have some sunshine this holiday, we are not ready for winter yet!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

I'm off to the play soon, have done the banking this morning and have paid £653 off the overdraft.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
