    I know that – I never had holidays when I was growing up because, despite her excellent budgeting, my mother simply didn't have the money to take five kids away.

    Contrary to popular opinion a holiday ISN'T a necessity (or for that matter a God-given right). Unfortunately Jacqui99 and her ilk get no sympathy from me because it's pretty churlish to (a) whinge about others being able to afford holidays and (b) to suggest that they can only afford them because they're on benefits.
