Accountancy jobs - what's yours?

Do you not receive any sort of publication from the AAT? With the ACCA publication, they have job adverts at the back - I would have thought that any that the AAT send out would have a similar section - even if it is recruitment agencies
Have you contacted the recruitment agencies who specialise in accountancy jobs - not just for your cv but for a general chat about work/prospects etc?
What about the accountancy firms - just even to have a general chat with their training department for advice and their experience.
You seem to be asking the same questions month after month - I know that you're not getting any replies as such, but you need to be a bit more proactive about contacting these people yourself
What about contacting the AAT to see what they say or even ACCA
To fully qualify you do need relevant experience - but there are ways around it but you have to do it through the ACCA.
I can't help you much more, as although almost qualified, I've been doing my role for 14 years so qualified by experience then I figured that I would get the actual qualification not only that, but I am not in the CI, so things are different here.0

Do you think that after completing my AAT, I should first find a suitable role and then start my ACCA course, or would it be ok if I start the ACCA without getting a relevant accounts job?
I think it would be in your best interests to find a job first. Not just because you might be able to convince a company to pay for your exams, but because you want to end up in a position where you have the exam passes and the experience, rather than exam passes alone.
Qualified accountants demand a certain level of salary, i.e. if you have a professional qualification like ACA/CA/ACCA, you expect a certain amount of money. Or at least, employers expect you do.
Without the practical experience to back up that qualification, it will be difficult to justify that premium and as such, might put you in a difficult position, recruitment-wise. Employers might not accept you for lower paid roles (because they might refuse to believe you actually want them) and might not accept you for higher paid roles (because you don't have the experience).
I realise you can't magic up an accountancy job and to an extent, your hands are tied as to what you do next, but the above is food for thought.0

I agree with Donquine. Don't start more studying until you have got a new role.
I'm an FC for a medium sized organisation and would 9 times out of 10 take on someone with more experience over qualifications.
Good luck with your job search.0

            Hi
 Many thanks for your reply.
The problem is - How do I get my first accounts role? I have no accounts work experience except the AAT qualifications. The only accounts experience I have is credit control.
If you could advice on how I could get a suitable accounting role, then I would be most grateful.0

            Hi there,
I have been working in accounts all my working life and have experience in just about everything but I would really like to get some sort of certificate so I could start working for myself. I have looked into ATT, ICB and IAB certificates and from what I can see the ATT is the way to go. I would need to pay for it myself, which I'm willing to do if it's worth it. To be honest I think I'm too old to go the ACCA route.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how long it takes to complete the ATT? Are there any home-study courses you would recommend? And any other thoughts you have?
 Thanks in advance.

Thanks relic. Have you done the ACCA? Is there a work experience element to this ? I mean I've got loads of accounts office experience but not Accountants office experience - if you know what I mean 0 0

I've only just started it, I believe you can do it outside of an accountants as long as its relevant, although i'm not really sure!
I'm also doing a Physics degree with the OU at the same time, and to be honest that's what I really enjoy, so i'm not taking much notice of my accounting qualifications! I think unless you're wanting to work for a big firm, AAT is perfectly fine!Per Mare Per Terram0

Spooky My OH did his Physics degree with the OU How are you finding it? How are you finding it?
TBH I'm not really wanting to work for a big firm, ideally I just want a qualification behind me. My qualifications are in Maths rather than accounts. I would like to be able to go it alone but feel I would need something to prove I know what I'm doing and that I'm regulated - that's why I thought of the AAT0
