I went to get my tomatoes and strawberries in a little while ago. They're sitting on a growbag tray and after my slug encounter earlier I was inspecting everything when I found a white grub of some sort, just lying in the tray. And my tomato Alicante had a little bit of what looked like blue mould on the very tip of one of it's leaves. Any ideas if I should be worried by either of these things? :(

If they are in pots it could be some sort of beetle larvel like vine weevil-especially on strawberries. I would get rid of it and be tempted to repot the strawberries so I could check for any more.
If your strawberries are going to end up in a bed or outside they are very hardy and could go out now-I started a second fruit bed and planted mine out about 3 wks ago and they are huge and full of flowers now.
Vine weevils are only really a problem in an enclosed pot as they eat the plants roots and so effect the growth, but you quite often find things living and growing in plant pots so I don't worry too much about them. BTW birds love any kind of larve like this so leave any out on a tray were they can see them and they will gobble them up.

There are many things which can cause marks or discolouration on plant leaves. The vast majority are harmless, but a few can be signs of disease. I find its good practice especially with toms to remove any leaves with marks or don't look healthy (but don't strip a plant completely!).

This is only my advice though, in my third yr of growing and you find things that help you as you go along the mistakes are as much a learning tool as the sucesses.

can anyone give me advice on my cucumber seedling plants please, they are between 2 and 3 inches tall, with around 6 leaves, but some of the leaves have a white spotting on them, and some of the newer lower leaves have turned yellow, they were in 3 inch peat pots, but ive repotted them last night into big 9inch pots, will they survive,or should i start again.Thanks.
    PS,they are indoors on windowsills.

I have only just planted my cukes today to plant out in may as they can be very frost sensitive, but if they are going into a GH or will have some protection against late frosts they may well survive. Yellow leaves are quite often from a lack of nutrients in the soil so often means needs repotting. I would give them a bit of TLC and see how they go.

We have frost forecast for tonight  in areas of beds, herts and bucks. I was hoping it was all done for this year, so I could be safe to plant out. Just been out to bring in the washing and it is very clear out there, and getting quite cold.

I potted the strawberries into their planter today and I couldn't see anything thankfully, had another check and still nothing.

I took off the mouldy leaf and put it in the bin. Thanks for the reassurance. :)

It's been my day for crawling things!

I usually sow the carrots directly in the bed as they don't seem to transplant that well.

Are your peas outside or under cover? If under cover they will need to be hardened off for a few days (outside in the day-in at night) and once planted out watch for those late frosts. They also don't like the roots being disturbed which is why alot of people grow them in root trainers or (like those on MSE myself included) use the inside of toilet rolls and plant the whole lot in the ground.

I have some in rolls being hardened off at the mo and a row went in the ground this week.

    good luck

I got the honeysuckle collection from J Parkers. 3 are doing great but the Dropmore Scarlet is looking rather dead. They are planted in containers and I don't think they've ever dried out and as I say the other 3 are fine, but this is looking rather wilted and sad. Any ideas why?
