Thankyou for your replies, nice to have some company!

Didn't update yesterday as had very good and very old friend staying for the weekend. Simple pleasures. Friends are worth gold. She lent me £20....I have never had to ask to borrow money for a friend...well not sine I was 18! Luckily she understood and I knew I could pay her back today after the carboot which I did!

Bit of a test for me last night. I gave up drinking on 27th October 2009. Last night was the first time I had alcohol in my house since then-Was worried I was going to be tempted by friends bottle of red but wasn't at all so very pleased about that.-Was tempted by a cider during our 5 mile afternoon walk along the canal, but lime and soda did the job.

MUm2one...I might pick your brains about compensation. My son was knocked of his bike by a car earlier this week. The bloke who did it knocked on my door as I was mopping up blood and asked me to go and see the damage to his car!!!!! To cut a long story short I've instructed injury lawyers4u.....son is ok but badly cut knee and buckled bike...could of been so much worse! I know what you mean about the Devon holidays!! My mum always pays for us to have a few days in a caravan...it's very kind of her and I don't wish to sound ingrateful but it is always somehow.....fraught!!

To the lady who had such a bad 10 Years....can't rememeber your username now-sorry......that bought tears to my eyes....Well done you.

So the carboot-Found one with free set up, bit of a bonus. Made about £50 so could pay friend back, bought 2 things too (BAD ME) but £3 for a huge carrier of lego, and a hanging storage thing for jumpers for £1.50 which i will lay down, fill with compost and plant my tomato plants in....cheaper than pots and a bit different too.

Also bought a glazed pot for £2 which I decieded was a bit silly so sold it for £2.50!!;)

Completely shattered now, having got to bed late, kept awake by neighbours partying 18 year olds ( I SO HAVE TO MOVE) and ds waking me up at 4am asking if it was time to get up yet!

Ds now playing with lego...going to pop out in a minute and buy compost and get sowing....tomato and courgette plants sold well today.

Think that's enough ramble for now...back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off...gotta be a shock to the system. BTW I'm a Qualified Primary Teacher but in September started as a Parent Support Adviser...as I say I love it but money is pants....it could open up doors for a variety of routes....but....well something else to ponder!!

If you got this far-have a pat on the back!!:A

Thats brilliant about the car boot sales and the pot, the way I say it is, I'm on the sencic route, maybe could live like a nun and maybe pay an extra £1000 a year or have a bit of a life, and I need a bit of a life, and its not my daughters fault I'm in debt, so we go out but 99% of the time its a mse way, once every couple of months were have a pizza or a treat like that.

Anytime just ask, (or pm) grey cells need a workout away from Information management.

I hold my hat off to anyone in the teaching profession, going back to the other idea of yours def agree see if you can get your hours into 3 days then try and get some supply work,

Take care, and put ur feet up, esp after the car boot xx

Thanks for the offer there mum2one. I love the idea of the scenic route. Why go the fast and boring way! I will pm you at some point-my brain is too sun fried to get all the details down on 'paper' today.

I am sun-burnt! Was wondering why everyone was having a gawp in the garden centre...I love to say it was at my natural beauty (ha) but sadly not. My face looks like a tomato-lucky I'm not vain.

Was very self restrained at the gardencentre I have been known to spend £30/£40 a trip for a bag of compost. The record has to be coming home with a rabbit, hutch and all the gubbins when I went for compost. Today-Just compost.

Going to get back into meal planning so here goes.

Sunday-Leftover cold chicken, salad, mayo, cous cous, yummy plate of 'stuff'
Monday- Egg and cheese salad...new pots
Tuesday- Meatballs and sphaghetti - (I use sausages to make meat balls)
Wednesday - Fish fingers, chips and peas. (freezer)
Thursday - Pork and noodles (Pork in freezer-noodles in cupboard)
Friday- Beans on toast-Pear crumble and custard (Make-custard in cupboard)
Saturday- Home made pizzas-Pear crumble and custard

    Shopping list.

    Sausages.
    new potatoes
    eggs
    butter
    Ham for sandwiches
    Apples
    Cat food
    Dog food
    Bread
    Milk

Reckon I can get all that for £15.
    Good!

Can I ask for a portion of the pear crumble it sounds gorgeous. The meal planning sounds great and the mini shopping list.

I guess I think the £1s saved go a long way towards debt payments, but the pennies count as well, dd has my loose change, shes got one tin of 2ps, shes so pround of it, when we go out she looking at the floor for 2ps and any other money!!

Ah to the red face...... well done for the cheap shop at the garden centre.

Don't forget you can freeze bread, so if you don't need the whole loaf take out what you need.

  • Haven't you been busy? Well done on the car boot sale and the meal planning. Every once in a while I have a week of emptying the freezer and the cupboards to make room for newer fresher stuff. Have decided that this is going to be the week we eat sausage rolls as snacks and frozen veg with everything under the sun.

  • Excellent news on the council tax benefit. Do you pay it over 10 months or 12, it might be worth paying it over 12 months and reducing your monthly outgoings if possible.

Payday is so close I can smell it!

Work's idea of paying me more was making me full time. Hmm that isn't really paying me more is it? I will think about that one.

No debt busting can be done until I start getting some money. Tax credits have just increased which will probably mean I will lose the council tax benefit:mad:

They have back dated CTB to Feb when it should be to Nov. I have queried this. I think I'll let them sort that out first before I tell them about the tax credits rise???

So I think I survived April 2010...it certainly hasn't been my finest month! (Car may well have to run on vapours tomorrow)

But onto happier things-About 4 years ago my son who was very young then planted a peach stone in a pot, it has grown and grown and moved to bigger and bigger pots. I was out in the garden today and it has blossom on it. Simple pleasures eh?

    So today on the great scoreboard of life;

    Money 0/10
    Friendships 6/10
    Love life 0/10
    Neighbourly relations 7/10
    Health and Happiness Quota 8/10

    Could be worse!

No good at wrapping round the quotes, but got to say you brought tears to my eyes (in the nicest of ways........), sometimes the simpliest of things can make the whole debt free way a pleasure, and that was wonderful reading it.

    Thank you.

Sorry - about the tax credits etc, thats sods law in one hand out the otherr twice as quick!! xHope u get it all sorted.

def join you with the big zero on love life xx
