hi,yes i have no reason to doubt them and i double checked,he did say it is definatley renewed at the there end the specialist helpline that is,he didnt mention that he would take me off there list though lol,
  • Jonnyboy82 if you've already renewed and spoke to someone on the Specialist Renewals team then I wouldn't worry about it. If the adviser checked your renewal status and saw it was processed then everything should be ok. If you haven't received a letter detailing your Tax Credit award for 2010/2011 within 2 to 3 weeks I would contact the main helpline just to double check. And there isn't a 'list' so to speak but we do have a database of all cases and once you contact us your case will be marked as 'cleared'.

I feel those who have been selected for renewal through the specialist team are bing penalised in some way cos we have to ring the specialist line and not the helpline or being able to post it back seems really odd.Are the people on this selection list just computer chosen randomly or selected because their claim maybe a little higher than others because of 3 children, etc or under suspicion?.I just feel its a really stressful process and i am unable to call between the hours the specialist team are open because of my fulltime hours so am panicing to how i am going to be able to renew if i have to ring this specialist team before my claim is completed.

I just feel the past year the tax credits have been a nightmare,I was reviewed last year and as expected all clear but i felt i had to bear my sole to have my tax credits, etc.I have 3 children, get off my !!!! everyday to work fulltime but am single due to being unlucky in my relationship and claim childcare and tax credits to help me continue working fulltime as i have for years and years but feel you have to fight to have this money lately and are put under scrutiny when being reviewed.I could quite easily give up my job and go on benefits, etc but choose to work even though i m shattered everyday to give my children a better life but since the review i just feel penalised for having to claim it.When i received this letter Friday i just thought that although my review was clear and closed last year, was i under suspicion or review again. The letter as worried a lot of people even though we're all innocent!!
  • The process has been designed to help, not hinder, and this method allows us to check every detail on your award is correct and deal with any behind the scenes issues there may be when processing your annual renewal. Our office is manned until 7pm and while not officially open there should be someone there who can take your call after 5pm. No one has been selected due to suspicious activity and it is in no way an investigation.

We received the letter today and it has worried me! Reading TaxCreditHelp am I correct in assuming it's merely a straight forward procedure and merely there to ensure all details kept are correct etc?
  • It is indeed harry7075. When you call we'll just check that all the details we currently have on your award are correct, before completing your Tax Credit annual renewal over the phone. You won't have to complete and return the renewal form.
  • so after the phone call how long does it take to hear that it as been finalised
  • Ive had 2 of these specialist renewals letters turn up both signed Steve Lamey and from Tax Credit Office Preston. First one has left me worried sick for 3 weeks and wrecking my brains if i had doen something wrong as tax credits are a life line for us. My renewals pack turned up yesterday along with a second letter and so 'google' to the rescue and up came this thread. After an hour reading through all comments ive just renewed using the normal number. Busy wait though must admit. At the beginning i explained the letter and the youg chap made no comment except well lets do the renewal which i did. Very basic mine is but i suppose quite high value. He stated it was all done and final. I again queried the letter and was told there are some issues but there were no notes on my account and as far as he was aware it was all complete. He told me NOT to ring the number and basically ive done my bit and if some system in HRC is not happy with the info it will simply recontact me to check things again. He said from what ive done they cant simply stop payment in July without rewriting and say i did to do or tell them x,y or z e.t.c. So i await by renewal letter and will read it carefully.
Basically thats it and after all the other comments thought it was only fair to add my course of action to all that is writen here. Excuse my spelling and puncation ive taken lessons from the letter writters at HRC!!!!!
