2 wks with Talk/T & already angry ! advise on best ISP please

Options
I only joined TalkTalk on the 30th March i was with AOL for 8years before that Yes i now realize that TalkTalk is AOL@s sister company ! I am not happy with the customer service at all & iam experiencing the same disconnection issues which i had with AOL and that is why i changed in the first place ! I have a cooling off period obviously but now i have a problem. I had my landline through BT before i went with TalkTalk so now TalkTalk have it I want to leave Talk/T and want to cancel asap but what will happen ? will i have no landline ? and who is the cheapest alternative ? live on my own and do not work so really need cheapest deal possible. I had a great package with AOL but now i wont be able to get that back, maybee thats a good thing as i had a lot off problems with them but it was cheap, i was speaking with AOL a short while ago as talktalk put me through to them and they told me they would not be able to offer me that package again and also i dont have BT line now anyway. Totally confused by it all i think i should just abandon anything to do with AOL & talktalk and start afresh. any suggestions on whats the best thing to do before my 30 days cooling off period runs out, i have made a big mistake signing up to Talk/T its mucked me all up now What is the 02 package for instance ? i do not have 02 mobile ?

You need to check if BT will take you back free of charge as the very first step. I believe the process is called "return to donor".

My advice is to call BT. You'll have to take their phoneline (year contract) but don't have to take their broadband - it is expensive and pretty poor judging by most comments I've seen so just don't be tempted.

O2 is only any good to anyone if the LLU deal is available on your exchange.
Check http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php to see if it is (and if not what other LLU there is).

If you can get back to BT free and O2 is available LLU you'll need to know about cashback deals from Quidco too so ask before leaping in boots first.

try the Talktalk users forum (you need to google for the weblink) there you can state your problems and usually within 48hrs the talk talk team will see what they can. Not ideal but much better to use their forum than calling them and being stuck in a phone queue for more than 30mins,then to get cut off!

Changing providers won't solve your connection issues, its the same physical cable connecting you to the exchange no matter who you are paying.

Were you getting drop outs with your wireless connection, your ethernet connection or both?
Have you listened to your landline and heard hiss crackles etc?

Has anyone from AOL asked you to read your router statistics, plug into your master test socket or the like?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Thanks penrhyn been through all off the above before since november 2009 actually i had an engineer out that AOL sent and everything was fine , i changed to TalkTalk because they told me that the problem was with AOL and that they would be better because they had fibre optic ??? iam more concerned about the Rubish customer service which i had my first experiance with today and dont want to experiance that again, ever since speaking with them today ( maybee coincidence ) my conection has been playing up so back to same old prob i had with AOL

Which just confirms that the problem is either with your internal wiring, exchange line, router set up, filters etc.
Changing ISP's will not alter that.

Doesnt confirm that at all because like i said above i had an Engineer in my property who checked out & confirmed everything was fine with internal wiring exchange line filters etc ! unless the Openreach Engineer was wrong maybee it has more to do with TalkTalk being AOL which unfortunatly i didnt know were the same company untill i had changed to TalkTalk
