I'm curious - how many of you are in Long Distance Relationships and how often do you see each other?

No longer in a long distance relationship, but we were for the first 11 months. I was in the UK and OH was in Belgium, then the Netherlands.
We used to see each other about once every 2-3 weeks, but sometimes less if either a) we couldn't afford it or b) the timing didn't work out (ie, I went on a pre booked holiday for 2 and a half weeks at one point).February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Hmm, my husband lives in Germany, I see him 3 days out of 14, does that count?2 angels in heaven :A0

I was for about 7 years (his job required project work for 6 months at a time all over the world) & now we finally live together0

I was about 3 hours away from oh for the first few months we got together - it worked ok - but I think unless there's the will to bridge the distance eventually they're tough going. Having said that, oh's dad works at sea and his parents have a fantastic marriage I'm well jealous of - but they have a very clear rota of time apart/time together.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

My fiance and I have been doing long distance for four years now - I'm in Germany, he's in the UK. We see each other every four weeks or so but speak every day. It's worked because we both wanted it to although when I moved over here we didn't know how it would go. We got engaged two months ago and I just got a new job in Oxford, starting in June. I'm looking forward to us being together again, but a bit scared about sharing a flat together!0

It can work if you both try hard. As soon as one loses even the slightest of interest it can fall apart.
One of my best friends is engaged and his OH is in New York (he's in the West Midlands). They met at uni in Ireland, he got a job over here and she went to study her PHD over there, they get married next year in NY and then she's moving over here!
They talk every day over the internet and he flys over there 3 times a year whilst she flys over here 2 times a year. Its pretty much equal effort which is why it still works and they live for the future and cant wait to see each other next. Its cuteMFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
so how long was you all with your LDR OH before you moved in together? a while or fairly quickly?0

I was in a long distance relationship we live 400 miles apart ,we used to see each other if funds permited every other weekend ,within 6 months I moved down to live with him and we married 6 mths after that .
We had no one else to think of neither of us had kids or ex partners to be concerned about so it was easier for us ,I had a job that was easily transferable as well0 -

11 months for us. Which is still fairly quick in my eyes, but it was reaching the point where one of us had to make a move, or we would split.
But, OH actually first asked just 2 months in. Then freaked out when I didn't immediately jump for joy. But we talked, and then decided we would definitely do it after about 8 months together. The next 3 months were spent securing a job, a flat etc etc. I couldn't officially move in with OH at first as the landlady wouldn't allow another tenant (although, I did stay at 'his' place all the time). She only changed her mind after meeting me a few times and so we officially lived together after my first 6 months in the country and ever since.
Are you in a LDR now mommyme? Are you looking to move in, or has your OH suggested it? Just trying to understand better, what your concerns are, so I can offer better info/advice.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
My GF and I live 60 miles away from each other, and we see each other on average every 1.5 weeks or so (this month is a bit of an exception due to our shifts colliding unfortunately). When we do see each other though we always stay for 2-5 days.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
