    morning all

labour vibes to those that need them x

I'm feeling much better this morning, had a proper nights sleep which makes a big difference, still tired now but nothing a small nap won't solve. Still snotty but no headache or temp etc today so I'm getting better. Hope everyone else that was feeling pants is better soon too x

Have to take DS to the docs later he has a really nasty rash on his bum that is making it really painful for him when he goes to the toilet. Poor thing, he doesn't want to go to the doctors about it either but he can't carry on as he is bless him. Do they get embarassed at 4?

I was thinking about maternity leave earlier and I'm thinking of taking it nearly as early as possible since I'm struggling trying to work and look after the kids during the day which is gonna be really hard over the summer hols with no break. I'm not really worried about going back whilst baby is little as it'll be home with daddy and if its as good as the other 2 will be sleeping through.

    Hello bumps and mums

Sorry I've been MIA - I've been off getting engaged ;)

I have managed to catch up but as you all know baby brain wont let me remember what I need to say to who so its just gonna have to be a generic congrats to the new babies, welcome to the newbies, hugs to those who need them and labour vibes to all at 37+ :D:D

Well, I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and am HUGE (will post bump pic next) and I really not quite sure how I'm gonna manage another 23 weeks :eek:

I would love a water birth (lady with the tankini idea :T), didn't get the chance with DD1, couldnt with DD2 because of her congenital birth defect and most likely wont be allowed with this one as I am at risk of strep b+ and may need an iv drip as soon as my waters go - I will speak to the MW & Consultant about it.

Another random question - has anyone here had the LLETZ procedure done?

    tt

Congrats on the engagement!! I keep hinting to OH but nothing so far ...

They found strep B in a high vaginal swab I had when I was in hospital with bleeding at 16 weeks and have said I need to go on a drip when my waters brea. The mw told me that it's a shunt in the hand and you don't need to be connected the whole time they just top it up every couple of hours and she said I could still use the pool if I wanted - maybe your area is different but it's worth checking.

In the subject of water births - I like the idea but I'm worried about what else ends up in the water with you. I imagine it gets "floaters" (TMI sorry) and other stuff and not sure I want that. OH thought maybe they had a net they scooped stuff out with :rotfl: Has anyone ever had one and how was it?

Well ive been to my antenatal everything is ok blood pressure is perfect and urine is fine. She checked where baby was laying and she is slightly oblique but is moving in the right direction so isnt worried at this stage she has said to try and get on my hands and knees in the afternoon for about 1.2hr before eating this will help her get head down. I'm feeling alot better after seeing her i was so worried about baby not moving but midwife has said even if she is breach when i go into labour i can still birth her naturally onlt problem that may occur is if she stays oblique then i will have to have a c section but she siad that is rare :-) x

Xmas.. mine is oblique/breech again.. we decided we didn't like having our head squeezed for all of yesterday afternoon and flipped over.. if mine can turn yours has loads of room.. mine being a big long snakey baby! They can turn when you are in labour so don't be pressured into anything! and at 29 weeks there is more than enough time for them to get right. Very heavily laid in my right hand side today too with a shoulder poking out the front.. it is agony when we try to kick though as there is nowhere for the feet to go so they just crsh my innards about.. head down is so much comfier... freezing cold things.. like a dish of ice cream ;) balanced on baby's head usually gets mine to shift... if I do hands and knees I will collapse onto my face and be stuck there like an upturned woodlouse!!

I know I am a bit odd anyway.. but am I the only one who finds the idea of a birthing pool absolutely disgusting????

I have had to have my underwear dragged off with most of mine because I refused to take them off before the last second.. I wouldn't even tolerate the idea of being naked or even half naked.. and I absolutely will NOT remove my socks I don't care what anyone says!

Plus if my magic tissue got wet I would cry!

Budget; Lol at 'floaters' :rotfl: my OH said about this to me as I would love a water birth, also the MIL was saying that there would be other things in the water, but I have to admit I have no idea, so if anyone could please clear this up I would also appreciate it?!

Xmas; Glad you appointment went ok. For some reason my baby has been in the head down position since I was about 25 weeks and doesn't appear to want to move its head! I keep getting kicks and nudges from different directions, but I think he/ she must be very comfy as they seem to prefer my right side and being head down. Hopefully he/she will stay like that!!

    lol @ pigpen

My mum has told me that some PCTs have stopped doing water births due to the infection control risk...her mate is the infection control lead nurse so I will be probing said friend as to the truth of this when I see her in a few weeks!

I am loading baskets at the nappy lady and cleangreennappy to see which has the best price ;)

Pigpen: whats a magic tissue?? I like the idea of a pool in thinking it could be nice warm and relaxing (while I am screaming my head off!) but I do not like the idea of being totally naked in a pool :p and I wouldn't want to take my socks off either :p lol

You can get a maternity tankini for £12 from ASDA so only your bottom half need be naked :p and if the feet really bother you you can get latex/rubber type socks, 'veruca socks' for when people with foot infections go swimming :rotfl: I remember a kid at school had to have them once.

OH seems quite set on a waterbirth. Doesn't worry me how it happens really, everyone else had to be evicted and I expect this little monster will be the same, which means we won't be in the midwife led unit but the maternity hospital anyway, and I'm not sure they do water there, certainly not if you were induced anyway!

Pigpen ive tried the cold things she seems to flaming like it so gave up with that one she doesnt like me being upside down though so ive been hanging over the edge of the bed which is what made her turn im just hopeing she will keep going and not turn back lol.

I really want my water birth this time will be very dissapointed if it doesnt happen. It doesnt bother me in the slightest getting naked infront of the midwives or my OH its not like they havent seen it all before ;-)
