I think I've just been had!

I saw an advert on a website to win £450 of top shop vouchers so I clicked it. The advert asked for my mobile phone number which I entered and they sent me a message with a pin code in it. They said I should enter this online, which I did.
Suddenly I received 6 text messages in a row. Having re-read the first message, it said this:
FreMsg: Fill in your Pincode 1142 for a chance of winning the prize and to download your content! www glomobi com £1.50/msg recd. max of 6 msgs)
Does this mean I've just been charged £9?!?! Can they do this? I was following the instructions on screen (which made no mention of being charged), not on the phone otherwise I probably would have noticed?
If I have been charged, is there anything I can do about it because this is obviously unfair.

Yes they can, because you received a free invitation text and then voluntarily subscribed to their service.
You won't do this again in a hurry.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
They can?! I certainly won't. I can't believe it, I didn't think I'd get caught out by something like this. I still think it's unfair, and unclear for that matter.0

Keep reading the site as somewhere it may say you have to send a text 'Stop' so you don't get any more messages0

You can win £500 by sending me a wire transfer for £10...
But, seriously, why did you think this was real?! Have you not been to the real world before?

We all (rather smugly sometimes!) like to think we will NEVER be caught out by these money grabbing 'tricks'. But , in reality, it can happen to any one of us - 999 times out of 1000 we will smell a rat but if we are caught when we are tired, stressed, distracted , had a glass or two of wine, or just not thinking then its only too easy to do something silly like this.
I don't think I've ever been caught out (yet!) but my DH has come unstuck once - he's a tad more gullible than me. Don't beat yourself up OP - you only got caught for £9 and it may be a cheap lesson as it will certainly make you much more aware in the future.ELITE 5:2

No such thing as a free lunch or free money or free vouchers. :rotfl:0 -
It is misleading - I just started to enter a similar competition for Max Factor makeup - received a pin code to enter on the site, but then aborted the entry when asked for further info - address etc. I also then received a string of texts. When you are expecting a pin code and it comes via text you tend not to read the text to the end, just as far as the pin. I won't make this mistake again either!!!0
