If these shoes fit your 2 year old before christmas, believe me they will not fit her now. childrens feet grow at an alarming rate = youre talking nearly four months, !!!!!!.

Legally, after 4 months you dont have a leg to stand on = so to speak

There is a big difference between not being satisfactory quality (covered by SOGA) and not fitting anymore! While after 4 months they may not fit anymore, they should still be of good quality (btw, my son has shoes that he has had since before xmas and still fit fine!)

OP, you have rights under the Sales of goods act to a repair/repplacement/partial refund. The option you choose can not be disproptionally costly compared to one of the other remedy (i.e you cannot demand a new pair if it is cheaper to repair) so in essence, the retailer can choose the remedy.

My nearly 2 year old got bought some shoes for xmas and they still fit him now. Not all kids grow at the same rate. He stays the same for ages then has a growth spurt then stays the same again for a while.

Thanks Ollies Dad, you seem to make the most sense and I'll probably go for the repair after all. Nagging in the back of my head is the was the shoe of quality when I bought it, as the shoe is absolutely fine, hardly any wear and tear, and was the fault with the shoe when I bought it? (loose/incomplete stitching). In all honesty there's a few of you money/shop gurus that don't seem to know what your're talking about.
For the record this is a true case and I am legit, not a troll. I am a nursery nurse and intend to let all the mums and dads in on my experience.

Just so I know, if the shoe comes back with orange stitching like a spider on acid what do I do?

Having never seen a spider on acid I couldn't possibly comment

Touch the stitching up with some permanent marker perhaps?

The shoes still fit her, how long for I don't think I could tell. There is still growing room. I have had a look at foot growing info for that age and it seems it could be another 3 months before another pair is needed (6 months).

The shoes are not being repaired, to be frank I saw my backside. Why I should pay £45 for some kids shoes+when one develops a problem have to get them repaired. Let's not forget these were black patent party shoes and have hardly been worn.

My daughter was 2 at Christmas, bought her new shoes 8 weeks before Christmas and the dog chewed one within the week, so had to replace with identical shoes.

Have taken her back every six weeks to be remeasured as suggested by the shop (Clarks) and today is the first time that she has shown any growth so it is possible. However all of her little friends at the playgroups she attends have had numerous pairs of shoes in the same time frame so I guess I have just been lucky.

I wouldn't though keep a pair of shoes for a two year old to wear for special occasions as this just seems a complete waste of money for the amount of wear they would get out of them, it's not like they even wear out the shoes they wear everyday at this age.

You dont need anything legal, shoes that really fit a 2 year old will not fit her 4 months later, they must have been too big to start with, stands to reason doesnt it, if you add a bit of common sense. And before you ask if i have had experience of this yes, i have. I brought up 2 kids and 4 grandchildren.

Then you should know that not all children are the same.

My son was walking at 10 months his first pair of shoes were a 5 and a half G fitting, six weeks later he was a 6 and a half and stayed that size for 18 months.

My daughter was walking at 12 months, her first shoes were as 2 and a half has been back every six weeks for fittings and has only had three pairs of shoes. She was two at Christmas. Her last pair were last November a size 4 and a half and today has been measured as "almost" reaching a 5!

yeah, I have to agree with McNeff, no way do shoes fit a 2 year old for over 3 months!!!!
and by the way if they have offered to repair them that's all they have to do...

Utter twaddle. My son, who is 3 next month has just grown into a size 6. His first pair of shoes, at age one, were a size 4. On average he needs a new pair every six months. I get his feet measured regularly at Clarks, and at a couple of different branches. Not all children are the same. I expect when he hits school, that'll be when they'll need changing more regular.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
