My opinion is that the taxpayer shouldn't be paying for you to play farmville at the library when you should be paying to do it yourself at home. If the library has to choose between spending money on junk like PS3s or non-educational web access or a more comprehensive selection of books and magazines I hope it chooses the latter every time.

I don't know where people are getting ideas that youtube doesn't have information and that somehow they manage to ignore all the fictional books in libraries.

This will be my last post to you as your being awkward.

    1. My library DOES allow facebook, period, i am raging against the filter and regular blockage that the filter (web sense or web nonsense as i call it) does to facebook and the applications/games link that is on all facebook pages, which does not have sexually explicit, banned, rude or any other public dangers on its link, OK?

    2. I don't have desires for political information, period.

I explained above why the "applications" are blocked, that is because these are for most of the time not actually on the facebook site.

As for blocking, it's not easy, you are either light on blocking and stuff gets through, or tight on blocking and you block a few "friendly" sites.

If it was my child who was 11, they would only have friends who they knew in real life, facebook is safe. Feel sorry for the girl involved there, in libraries parents are usually with kids online, its quite safe.

    You are very naive.

Widelats is well known for asking questions that relate to his own selfish needs. Sadly he feels that the only right opinion is his own and anyone who disagrees is either flamed or put on ignore. Widelats invented that practice of sticking his fingers in ears and shouting La La La La La at the top of his voice. It's a shame that he won't take constructive criticism on board or even take some of the good advice he is given on a regular basis by well meaning posters. The only thing he seems to take willingly is his benefit payments - shame on him.

Our local libray has a PS3 in it of all things, and the kids get to go down there and play Fifa in half hour sessions, now thats a waste of money!

Yes, giving kids something to do other than roaming the streets, total waste of money

I did think of this, it's almost like a youth centre for the kids...

Having something for the kids to do, that is a bit more productive or healthy would be MUCH better than sitting on their !!!!!! playing football video games... (there could be an argument for certain games that could promote some kind of learning, puzzle solving etc.... MAYBE).

Although, this could be a ploy to get more kids into the library... and if it's working for them, then good on them!

Cool you have a PS3, extremely popular machine! Yes i am trying to at least get some bandwith allowance and a site for some gaming while i find stuff out, gets terribly boring just looking at council sites and blocked pages from websense.

Any chance of you diverting all of your energy into finding a job?
