All this is very worrying as I came to the cccs through a link on the Lloyds tsb website when I realised I was in difficulties but they now don't appear to be very cooperative towards the DMP .
Whilst on a dmp, creditors do not to accept the payments. You do not need to respond to the letters if you are making them payments as these are standard collections letters.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. If there is a job going I would go for it! If you were asked on your application if you owed Tesco any money I would recommend that you declare it. Big companies like these generally are broken down into different sectors ie Tesco’s Finance and retail etc
If you did get the job, I would also recommend that you check your contract to be on the safe side.

I've come on this site over past few months and its great! To date I've got back over £1k in PPI/Credit card charges and still on a journey in this regard.
I'm on a DMP with a company that charges. Basically about a year ago I was just so fed up with the mess I was in and googled debt help and very quickly signed up - at the time any assistance any one could provide would have been most grateful and they seemed and where very helpful at the time. In fairness it has been good in getting me back on track however I pay £70 a month to the company which is £840 per year.
I've been thinking alot about this as yes they have saved me a lot of interest by negotiating better rates but they are been well paid for it!
I'm very tempted to just ring my creditors and take over the plan myself as I've never missed a payment and could offer them all more money ie the £70 & just write to the company and end their involvement
What do you think - can I get the same reduced rates on the credit cards x 4 or do things have to be renegotiated etc?
Any advice would be appreciated - I just want to be debt free as quick as possible and that £840 would get rid of 2 creditors!
Thanks
John
Hi John
It would make sense to either start making the payments yourself, or switch to a non fee charging debt management company, as the £840 you are paying them in fees could be reducing your outstanding debt faster. It would mean extra to pay your creditors so they are likely to be happier too!
If you would like CCCS to look at your situation and give you further assistance , you could call for an appointment to speak to one our debt counsellors on 0800 138 1111.
CCCS do not charge anything at all for their help and advice.
We can assist you in putting together a budget to send to your creditors and also discuss all options available for your situation.
If the counsellor is happy to offer a DMP as a result of your appointment, we would then discuss with you how to end the current arrangement you have and how to set it up with ourselves. CCCS does not charge for setting up or administering a Debt Management Plan.

Hi vauxhallcorsa
If you are doing a DMP, then your priority payments should always come first.
Whatever is left over after they have been paid should be shared amongst your creditors.
If you feel that you do not have enough to cover your mortgage and other bills, then I would recommend that you call your Debt Management company and ask for a review of your situation.
If you are paying them a fee for administering your plan, then it may help if you switch to a non fee charger so that any spare money you do have is being used to clear your debt and not paying fees.
Your most important priority is your mortgage, so you must ensure you have enough to cover this as you could lose your home if you do not maintain the payments.
If you would like to speak to a counsellor at CCCS about your situation, you can call for an appointment. All our help and advice is free.
We don’t have the facility to be able to simply transfer your Debt Management Plan from your existing provider as you would need to have an appointment with one of our debt counsellors first. If the counsellor is happy to offer a DMP as a result of your appointment, we would then discuss with you how to end the current arrangement you have and setting it up with ourselves. CCCS does not charge for setting up or administering a Debt Management Plan.
If you would like us to take a look at your situation to see what options you have, you would need to book a telephone based appointment with one of our trained debt counsellors by calling our helpline on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00. It would be helpful that when you call you have details ready regarding your income, expenditure and creditors, as this can help speed up the referral process. If you have this information ready it may be possible to refer you directly to a counsellor if one is available, otherwise we will arrange a time that is convenient for you to be called back for an appointment.
Alternatively, you can use our online electronic facility called Debt Remedy. Debt Remedy will assist you in completing a financial statement which includes information on your household, employment, income, expenditure and debts. All this information is used as a basis to determine the options available to you to deal with your situation.
Once you’ve followed the process through and completed all the required information you will immediately be presented with an advice booklet, which will provide tailored advice for you based on your current circumstances. It will also provide advice on ways you may be able to improve your situation. If you would like to get immediate advice on your situation this link will take you directly to Debt Remedy http://www.cccs.co.uk/ref/drcu
Hope this helps,

Hi last year I got a letter regarding my council tax, which I thought I had been paying but turns out I had not, telling me I had to go to court on whatever date or pay the whole years council tax in full straight away which would then stop proceedings. I paid it immediately and have had no issues since. My work are now doing credit checks and I am worried that this might show up on mine. Is this classed as a CCJ even though I paid the whole years straight away and court proceedings were stopped?0

Good Evening, I am hoping one of the counsellors on here will be able to help. I have already posted a thread with my scenario (unfortunately I can't post links as a new user but a search under my id of FOJC will show you this).
I have had a few replies (which is appreciate) but nothing really which I didn't already know. I realise there are a couple of areas where I can save but this does not answer the whole problem. For instance at the moment I am paying off about £50 a month on my CC as £250 of the £300 is in interest. Added to this though I am having to use it day to day with little credit left.
The main concern is that a significant amount of my debt is with my employers through Credit Cards and I do not want to affect my employment by choosing the incorrect course of action.
The SOA I have posted does also not cater for cash needed day to day and a few other things but mostly is correct.
I am tempted to bite the bullet and go and speak to an advisor in my bank to see what they can do for us. I am hoping they can come up with a plan we can stick to like a large loan which will obviously take quite a few years to pay off but at least we will be paying the debt off. This obviously then will bring my employment to the fore.
Also as my mortgage is on a tracker and my rate is 0.5% this will not last forever but it is ok for the moment. Also my salary will probably drop towards the end of the year as some of my shift work may stop. These will seriously affect my income so I need to look into this as soon as possible.
Any advice on these points will be greatfully received.0 -

Then you don’t need to respond to the letters or do anything. Just stick to your payments.
