About time too...

About time to start a diary me thinks!

Budget wise, I think I do ok because I dont buy too much other than what I absolutely need, and I'm happy to eat the cheaper food and not buy clothes or anything pretty. Havent had a hair cut since October too! I know I could probably budget for it but right now I have far more important things to get - like food!

Yesterday the OH treated me to a curry and a couple of DVD's so I didnt spend any money, today we are looking at a flat after work (first flat together *woooop* :)) and then dig something out of freezer for dinner and to bed with dvd

Like I said, I'm usually really good at budgeting but I really need to do it tighter as I got to start paying more than the minimum on my CC.

Going to sit down and properly do my SOA later too as I try to do it at work every lunchtime but realise I've forgotten a bill or something at home so have no figures - D'uh!!!!

I like the idea of an online diary, because there will be the odd day I screw up and need a little bit of a bump so I hope you guys are out there to help bump me

Much love
Sara xx

Me and the OH looked at a gorgeous flat last night so we can move out and get our own space. It was gorgeous, HUGE roof terrace and right by the sea...

But, to move in it will cost us £1770!!! I told him from the start I couldnt afford that so no point in looking but his mum then piped up saying she would give us money for a deposit (not sure she will agree to this amount though!)

So, we talked and he said if she cant give us the money he will move in with me in my houseshare and give me half of everything I pay.

That is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me! That will be about £200ish a month which can go straight onto the credit card :)

So in a way, as much as i love that flat, I hope his mum doesnt give us the money because not only will the OH give me extra money a month, I wont have to worry about owing money to another person.

I gathered all my direct debit details today so I can finally get round to doing my SOA today :)

I finally did my SOA at it wasnt no-where near as bad a I initially thought, the future seems quite promising right now with regards to clearing the debt :)

But... for April its going to be tough. Not enough money in the account to cover the direct debits which are due in the next couple of days.

Bank refused to give me a temporary overdraft because of my bad credit and they also told me that they are going to charge me because I will be going over my limit.

They also said I have 2 charges coming out on the 22nd. One for going over my account last month (i went over because they took a charge out) so it looks like a never ending cycle.

OH is going to speak to his mum about lending us some money to avoid these charges but I still think it will be too late, wait and see though.

OH has agreed to pay me £165 in contribution to the rent and bills at my place which is going to be a great help :)

But, as optimistic as I may be feeling for next month, I have to remember other payments on top of the usual monthly outgoings.

Owe my friend for a gig ticket as I couldnt get time off work so cant go but he already brought tickets. Thats £15. I'm a bridesmaid for my friends wedding in June so need to book a hotel room for that night (no idea how much that will be!) and then the bank charges from this month.

Thats it but who knows what else will come up...

Hopefully I will have enough to cover all that and maybe a little extra to put towards credit card, just have to get through the next couple of days with -76p.... Happy days lol :)

    Hi

Good luck on your journey and diary - you may want to get it moved across to the diaries section - think you can pop a message to an administrator to do this?

Sounds like you are getting organised and very much aware of your situation. The flat sounds lovely, but like you say perhaps out of your reach at the moment. Sometimes half the fun is saving for such things and the reward feels so much better :)

I like the idea of your OH moving in and freeing up some money for you to throw at debts, even if temporary for 6 months you would be able to make a nice dent in your Virgin!

Have subscribed, look foward to more updates x

Didnt have the best evening last night.

Had to go round the OH's parents so he could borrow some money off his mum and was there much longer than anticipated and then went to the shops to get a little bit of food and petrol.

After 10 hours at work and then wandering around the shops for half an hour for no reason I kinda lost my cool and snapped at the OH which meant the rest of the night in awkward silence :(

I just got a bit worked up about everything and got myself stressed out. I know its going to work out in the not so distance future but right now its just hard! I really fancy some juice but all I have is water as I have no money to go get juice :( thats how bad it is lol

Thankfully though, the council tax was taken out of my account today. Has taken me £46.80 over my overdraft limit, one of my housemates gave me £22 towards her half and will be giving me the rest at the weekend so not all bad. Hopefully get the other half from my other housemate this weekend too :)

I'm going to cancel the DD for my phone bill, because they are going to try to take it with no money in the account so I'll end up getting charged. Then, when I have the money from my housemates I shall call them and arrange to pay whatever is in my account.

I have also done a list of all the payments due to come out in May so not so bad but again, will have to really REALLY budget because its one of my best friends hen do the 1st May so have had to put money aside for that. Luckily, I'm being savvy and shes sending me a list of the restaurants she wants to go to and I'm going to go on here to find some vouchers :) cunning lol

Thats it for now, I suppose I had better get started on doing some actual work seeing I've been at work for 30 minutes already and havent even checked my emails... lol

    Catch ya laters :)

Oh that's not nice re money situ at the moment - hope it gets better. Main thing is you know about it and are not ignoring it. If it helps i'm drinking water too at home and refuse to go to the shop just to buy some juice until we do a normal shopping trip!

Have a good day, best get on with some work myself.....who invented work anyway?!

I like the idea of working to get money but no so much the actual 'working' lol :)

Just been to the bank and its too late to cancel the DD for my phone so I called the phone company directly and they said they couldnt stop it but they would give me until 24th to make a payment or my phone may be restricted.

Not too bad as I was expecting them to be patronising and rude but they were very understanding :) I think thats the bonus of being a great customer for 4+ years with no problems paying them in the past.

Also had to set up another bill for the house (why have they all come at once!) So thats another £17 (well £8.50 because OH will pay half) to come out of the account a month. But, much better to get it all sorted now than get bills worth hundreds of pounds in the coming months.

Know the housemates wont be too keen on me wanting more money for direct debits but needs to be done! Only thing is though they could only do a direct debit for the bill we recieved (Sept - March 10) but will also include the coming bills...

But one of the housemates moved out end of March and one moved in April. So if I ask her to pay 1/3 of the direct debit it wont really be fair as some of the bill wont be hers...

    Any suggestions?

How about asking the new person for 1/5 instead? 20% instead of 33% or less even, she's only been there for 2-3 weeks so she might complain about paying too much.

Why are all the direct debits coming from your account? Perhaps you shouldn't take on all this responsibility when you are so short of cash because you risk damaging your credit record even more when it's not even your fault that you are waiting for payments from housemates.

I'm taking responsibility because no-one else will. I've suggested direct debits before and they just dont bother getting it set up. They have all promised me the money and I have no worries about them not paying me. Its just getting all the figures together and standing orders set up. But thats being all confirmed this weekend :)

I'm hoping everyone will be in this weekend so we can have a sit down meeting to discuss housing funds :)

Also... I suggested the OH moving in to one of the girls and she said thats cool so what I have suggested is that we split all the bills 4 ways (instead of him just giving me half) as it makes it cheaper for everyone :)

Have to sit down tonight and do a whole new SOA on new figures tonight :)

Prob best that you all sit down and do it together, means that everyone knows where they stand and also mean that you won't get left short etc.

That's good idea with OH splitting it all 4 ways - seems fair and everyone like you say, gets cheaper deal all round.

Hope the sorting all goes well :D
