Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 13th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Firstly - I am sorry but I haven't caught up on the recent threads at all. I started reading from last week forward and haven't got very far but wanted to post and say how touched I have been by all the messages of love and support from the Daily, both in the posts I have already read and the texts sent by SunnyGirl (who is a darling!) while I was in hospital.
Secondly -
. You are a wonderful bunch of people and I am overwhelmed by the kindness and positive vibes that were sent out for me when I needed them.

Absolutely no Oss-iness happening here either at home or in this post as you can all see!!
But I am exceedingly happy to be home and know I will be back to normal very very soon. Just need to catch up on sleep and get used to not projectile vomiting on the hour every hour. :rotfl::rotfl:

I may not post every day for now, but will try to as often as I can, and will hopefully catch up with where you all are, very soon. I just wanted to bring back the purple for one day at least!!
I hope everyone has as good a day as is possible. With love and light for all, and I hope anyone who is feeling poorly feels better soon.

Hi MSD,
Lovely to see you first thing in the morning. I hope you regain your strength asap. Being in hospital is just so stressful and you cant sleep. I had a day case yesterday but the care I got was wonderful and I was really impressed.
Not much OS going on here either apart from a mound of washing as my DS2 got back from his history trip in Germany. He seems to have worn every bit of clothing that he possesses. Im also hoping to go for a cuppa with Mooloo and thats very OS as we go to a little hall where you pay a donation for wonderful home made cake!
Hugs xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
GOOOOOOD MORNING MSD so nice to see you back, hope you are on the mend. :j
Good morning to you also Molly and all that follow.
After a beautiful morning yesterday it is very grey and overcast today, plus I have a pile of whites to hang ou to dry
Lazy day planned, out to do a bird survey for a couple of hours, tidy my spare room (dumping ground!) the some TV I think, last days off in my block of five so going to make it count
Have a nice day everyone and I hope the sun is shining with you.0 -
Morning Everyone
Hello again MSD :wave:hope you fully recover asap!
Another lovely sunny day here :j which is lucky as have loads of washing to do which can go on the line.
As well as the washing mountain I have a paperwork mountain to match so will be getting my head down in the office big time today. DS will be happy playing out with his mates & hopefully DD will entertain herself.
Hope to get out at a reasonable time so can take the dog and kids somewhere nice. Also need to pop to the library.
No idea what is for dinner at this stage.....need to menu plan at some point.
Enjoy your days.x0 -
Another lovely day in Cornwall. Sun forecast for a week, so seeds, digging, sanding and painting. As soon as i finish the boat it will most likely rain...
Tired mumThanks for the warning. Tell him not to drink alcohol and walk near the cliff edge or drink and drive, or slap someone and all the other crazy things teens do when they go to newquay...
Work at 1 today, so time this morning for a lazy breakfast and sand the boat some more.... Must get it painted!
I like the warmer weather... long may it continueNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Diva! You’re back! We missed you so much! Hope you’re starting to feel much better now.
Jet77 – have you considered planting a few things in tubs this year whilst you sort out your garden?
Had a bit of a stressful day yesterday with strange phone calls from Estate Agent. Will have to ask them to take my work number off of their notes as the phone calls I had were not appropriate for a work environment! Some people have no common sense.
OS today: Lunch is LO chicken Korma, made with LO roast chicken (so doubly OS!). Dinner is pot-luck soup. We need to eat the contents of the freezer before we move so it’ll be whatever varieties of soup I pull out first! Hopefully I won’t end up with pasta sauce like I did last time. Need to pack some more non-essential stuff as OH has got some free storage at work. Popping into town this afternoon to finalise mortgage arrangements and pick up a few bits and bobs. We need a few bits and pieces for the new home (like a washing line), so we’ll be using a voucher we’ve had lurking for a while.
Have a lovely day all,

Welcome back Diva.
Blue skies here today but still chilly, so far today I have cooked breakfast for hubby & dropped him at the station.
Dropped spare toasted at DD's house as hers went bang yesterday.
Set DW going.
I have a batch of mince bubbling away with grated carrot, onion, red pepper, lentils & porrige oats added, spag bol for tea tonight & the rest will be made into cottage pies.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning
Diva Brilliant to see you back :TWe've missed you xx
Another lovely sunny day here so the washing is on the line again. I'm loving it! I got called into work yesterdayat 9.30am so didn't get for my hair appointment I'm going this morning instead then on to see my friend for a cuppa or 3 afterwards :rotfl:
Lunch today will be out and tea is potato bake according to the menu plan but I am going to make a butternut squash & spinach quiche with boursin cheese. I'm drooling already. The recipe was given to me on this weeks menu planning thread & I've been dying to try it.
Off to find the Flylady list for today (hopefully it'll be the living room as I did that last night as the children were all vile, tired & bickering so I stayed out of the way)
With love & hugs to anyone who is feeling grotty or recovering from hospital stays & I'll no doubt check in later xxx0 -
Welcome back MSD we have all missed you and are so pleased that you are back home safe, and relatively sound.Relax, take it one day at a time, and get better and you will soon be back to your old self again.
I have just fed the 'basil' blackbird and am just about to go for a shower and breakfast.DD will be arriving just after nine and we will be off to the big city again I seem to have been in London more in the past month than I have been over the past year.Still I'm looking forward to a nice day out with DD and the 'Jersey Boys' this afternoon. It is a beautiful sunrise this morning so I'm hoping for a nice day.forecast is around 15c which is pleasant after all the grey and damp we have had.
I do hope everyone has a good day ,I have quite a bit to do before going away on Saturday but I'm sure I'll fit it all in and what doesn't get done will have to wait until I come home
I saw the first advert for DGS Danny's show that he worked on which starts this Saturday on t.v. Called 'The Whole 19 yards' with Vernon Kay I hope there is good reception in our cottage as he said he will hopefully get his first onscreen credit which he is chuffed about. He is off to New York for a week this weekend so he will miss it but DD will sky+ it for him.
Well time I got a wriggle on,have a great day everyone whatever you do
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Good Morning Everybody!
:j Welcome back Diva! Make sure you are getting plenty R &R:j
Early start again, washing out :jporridge going on in a mo' and some Carrot and Butternut Squash soup on. Need to make some more bread and will give BargainBurd's apple scones a go today as I ran out of oomph yesterday.
While we were at dog borstal last night, OH started to reconfigure the patio, actually he didn't as we only had a wee tiny one wih a path around the washing poles, so he made me one. He has about half left to do which he promises will be finished tonight. It's all been done by reusing the existing slabs and sand, and he got 8 leftover from a mate , so mega mega OS! Looking forward to it being finished, but I will have some space under the back stairs wchich I would like to plant up. Any ideas for perennials for a north facing area, and maybe some evergreens which are low growing? I think I'm veering towards heather, but just in case anyone has any ideas?
The other big do this week is Tax. End of year is due, and as OH earned so little last year, I am hoping Mr Darling will be nice and we'll get a big fat refund cheque, so the sooner that's done, the sooner it will be in my pocket.
Have a lovely day and huav a hugs or two if you need one.

Morning all
Diva - glad to see you're home and hope you are fully restored very soon x
Will be doing a mince and vegetable stew to use up some leeks, carrots, onions and potatoes from last weeks veg box for tonights dinner in the slow cooker.
I have four MSing jobs to do today in the city centre and I'm not sure whether the chauffeur is taking me or the bus yet. DH has to run round picking up insurance documents and getting car tax for a car we're picking up this afternoon - smaller engine so hopefully a lot cheaper to run.
Will go and straighten the kitchen when the kids leave for school/tech/work and have a potter round to collect some washing that needs doing, put the dinner on and maybe do some soup for lunch as I have some chicken stock to use up.
Julie67 glad work went well and :wave:to Molly41
