Errm quite a lot of people withdraw money with just a bank account and sort code, just thought Id clear that up! Very irresponsible to give out false information.
Very poor show to do that. I would not ever dream of giving a chugger false information. Never done it. Ever"There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Because the donation is too small? Its my job to refuse such donations. They're a waste of a DD form.
I have bills to pay. If I could afford to work for free I would. If I was in it completely for the money though I'd join something like Cobra and make a hell of a lot more.
It is amazing that the Pope is going to make John Henry Newman a saint when you are obviously a far more deserving candidate."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Glad to see we are stamping down on them in ManchesterCrackdown on charity muggers imminent?
By Mof Gimmers
You, as a human being who occasionally leaves the house, will definitely have been bothered by some little irksome hipster trying to ram some charity up your hole. They are as inevitable as taxes and self-loathing.
These little motherchuggers are especially irritating because you can’t justifiably smack them in the mouth, thanks to fact that really, despite being gaspingly desperate and annoying, they’re actually doing a rather good thing.
However, that’s not to say that they can’t change the way they go about their business. With that, Manchester City Council is to have something of a crackdown on chuggers, and there’s a good chance that it could get rolled out across the country if it proves successful.
Charity collectors will now have to sign up to a new code of conduct in the city after the council got tired of dealing with harassed shoppers.
The MEN report that fundraisers will now have to agree on how they should conduct themselves in designated areas around the city. Most likely, this means they’ll be moved out of the busiest shopping areas to somewhere more suitable.
Operations director, Gary Ellis, says: We’re really keen to work with charities on this to find an organised way if working that benefits everyone. Visitors to the city centre have to be our first concern. What we don’t want is having people feel intimidated as they’re going about their business.”
“We don’t want to deny organisations the opportunity. They do very worthwhile work and we hope this will benefit them too by making people feel more able to approach them or stop and talk. We will look to agree on locations where they can operate and limit the numbers each day, perhaps on a timetable-type basis.”
If this goes through, it could mean an end to the infuriating trend of these little do-gooding squirts following you down the road after you’ve given them a reasonable ‘no thanks’. That said, the smart folk give them a cheeky lie by saying “I’ve already signed up!” If they are given designated areas, it means that shoppers won’t have the song and dance of making looping great routes around city centres in their attempts to avoid even making eye-contact with these people.
Surely, chuggers are more prone to making people feel ill-will toward a good-cause? Feeling weary and irritated doesn’t exactly promote altruism and generosity does it?
What do you think? Do you want to see something similar ’round where you live?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I had a couple of Africans at the door with a sob story about poor children in Africa.
The were better dressed than me.
I said to them I was a poor old pensioner with twelve granchildren to support could they spare any money so I could buy Christmas presents for them.
They practically ran down the path.
It helps if you are wearing old clothes because you are cleaning.0 -
Just been woken from my doze on the sofa by a couple in Tabards knocking doors on behalf of a charity for deaf children. One that I now cant find any reference to on the internet)
I was asked if I would be "able to help out in a few weeks with some fundraising"..... By handing over my bank details to a complete stranger who has appeared on my doorstep at 8.10pm?
I don't think so.0 -
I had a sweet young thing knock at the door with a folder under her arm.
'I've been talking to your neighbours Les and Doreen, aren't they a lovely couple, they were really interested in my project'
Took me 2 minutes to persuade her that I didn't give a monkeys what my neighbours thought and that I didn't want to hear all about her project with little children. In the end I called her a Chugger which stopped her in her tracks. Must be slipping as I get older as I can usually get rid of them in 10 seconds.
I also hate charity envelopes put through the door in the expectation that you will put something in them. Put one back on my doorstep empty and the man's face when he asked for the envelope and I pointed down to the door mat was a picture.
P.s I do regular monthly payments to charities of my choosing in case I am accused of being superscrooge.0 -
we have now started to get kids asking for sponsership money for this that and the other, never agreed with the concept of sponshership, surely if you want to give money to a cause it should be yours0

We had 6 Oxfam chuggers coming to our doors this week. I don't understand why it never occured to them that they may get around the area quicker if they went around in twos. It's not a bad area so I don't think they needed to go round in a gang of 6 for safety! They were very pushy and gave me a "yeah right" look when I said I already donated money to my chosen charities. My two elderly neighbours told me they felt very intimidated. What is the point of collecting money for vulnerable people by intimidating other vulnerable people?!0

Why do you think that charities turn to this as a way of collecting?
I'd suggest it's because:
1) They are seen as successful and increase the charities revenue.
2) People don't donate enough for them to carry out work unless pushed/asked.
Let's face it if people were more charitable in general, then we would probably have less chuggers.
I'm not sure that it's because people are less charitable though. I wonder if there are just so many charities that it is impossible for any of them to ever get enough donations. In my area alone there are hundreds or charities so it's not suprising so many are struggling to get donations. I have never seen the role of chuggers as being about making people more charitable, I think they are there to get more of your charity money for their charity rather than another.0
