Im so sorry this is disgusting!
My OH is in charge of dealing with the bins in our house (but he is away for a week!)
I have a bin bag or two in a big black plastic dustbin, and to my horror this morning the lid has got all maggots on it (must have been where it has been hot all weekend – and there has been cat food chucked in the bin bags) – where it rained this morning the maggots are now all over the place (on my patio) and I don’t know what to do with them! I was going to chuck some bleach down, but am worried about my cats walking in it and getting poisoned – so I have had to leave it and come to work.
I literally was gagging at the thought of going anywhere near them, but my OH isn’t back til thurs and am going to have to do something.
Any suggestions or cat friendly ways to get rid of wriggly maggots – without having to touch them!! EWWWWWWWWWWWW
Sorry its so rank, I feel grubby and disgusting.
TIA

I had some in our bin the other week when DH forgot to put the bins out. I just poured a kettle of boiling water all over them.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I cant believe i didnt think of that! doh!
although i wasnt thinking very clearly when i spied them at 6 this morning when i was in my PJs!!
might have to tackle that one when i get home - what a treat!!0 -
The birds will probably have had a feast by the time you get home.0

Don't worry the ones on the floor will be long gone by the time you get home ,you might need to do something with the other bags though... get some rubber gloves and brace your self , it you have a hose just hose the bins out the maggots will wriggle away and disappear into the garden... later to turn into flies..... next time NEVER EVER put food in the bins without first wrapping it in newspaper or a plastic bag , luckily our council recently supplied us with food recycle bins that are fly proof so our binbags have no food stuffs in for the flies to enjoy.... when your bins are clean try spraying in them with fly killer every morning it used to work for me before I was more careful....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

If they were all over your patio this morning - they won't be there now
Any that the birds didn't get will have burried themselves somewhere.0 -
