Well, butter is made from cream which of course is a natural part of milk. Jersey cream is so thick you can stand your spoon up in it. And butter is made just by churning cream, which you can do in a jar with your own arms;) Even nice, HVO free spreads are a much, much more processed product than butter.
I suppose the best thing if you aren't vegan is to use butter, but only a little.

Wow, interesting link! (However, it may be slightly biased as it's by the butter board?) Still, as I've said already, give me a (more) natural product any day.0_o0 -
I discovered that Willow butter -like spread, which is solid like stork pastry margarine, is 'virtually trans-fat free',it says on the packet. Very good for making pastry and is sold in Somerfield for 99p for 2 blocks (500 g in total).0

You may well be right - but then they have to fight against the millions spent on advertising the "benefits" of so-called healthy spreads. I hate them all - yeugghhh. I only ever use butter. The difficulty is in finding one with no salt added - not that I'm paranoid about salt levels either, but for some dishes/recipes I need unsalted butter. I tend to use the President butter - from Normandy  (I normally buy local first and then British products). Just wish a local or British producer made something even closeWarning .....
