We would also remind you that outdoor coats, hats or scarves are not allowed at any time to or from school.'
This is outrageous!!:eek::eek: The school will have what's called a School Travel Plan whereby they have to encourage and put in place measures to encourage sustainable (i.e. non car) travel to school....this clearly undermines that. I would suggest you phone the council and ask to speak to the School Travel Advisor and tell them. Happy to help with that if I can, I work with our STA.

    I am so mad now!!

ours aren't 'allowed' coats, hats, gloves or scarves either.. Apart from my children because I kicked up a God almighty stink about it.. my daughter has Reynauds and if she gets cold she won't be doing any work because her fingers will be black and freezing..

they love me.. I argue constantly lol.

I said it is ok for the teachers in their nice warm cars some of these children live 10+ miles from the school and they cannot be expected to travel that distance in winter with no warm clothing.. Ditto the ones who live close by and walk in all weathers!

I only had to threaten writing to governors and ringing the LEA and they backed down.

Oi!!! Look at my post count!!!!!!!!!

My first attempt at being a flylady and failed :(. Went out for long lunch with a friend :) and after putting DD to bed decided to make jewellery for craft fair instead of flying! Will catch up tomorrow. Decided to list my aims for the week to try and put my behind in gear so here goes:

    Tuesday ~ Kitchen/Dining area
    Level One
    Sweep and mop floors
    Declutter  and wipe worksurfaces

    Extras
    1. Wipe over hob
    2. Declutter and wipe window sills
Tuesday - Sitting Room and Hallway
    Level One
Open the windows and turn on some music!
Wipe and water the plants (lack of water killed them all!)
Declutter  the chairs, floor and fireplace

    Extras
    1. Vacuum AAALLLLLL the way up the stairs (need to fix stair attachment first!)
    Personal Goals for Week:
    1. Make buttons jewellery for craft fair
    2. Make wire jewellery for craft fair
    3. Make polymer clay beads
    4. Make polymer clay beads into jewellery
    5. Update website
    6. Write business cheques
    7. Write invoices
    8. Post invoices
    9. Bake
    10. Make space in kitchen for playpen (arriving tomorrow)
    11. Make up playpen
    12. Water plants in garden

Afraid I break everything up into tiny tasks so I can score more off!

Playpen arriving between 7am and 7pm tomorrow - am hoping it comes in the morning so I can get lots done!

Here's hoping the day goes as I've planned.......
    Making small changes everyday....

    Evening all

I got up at 6am today, worked for an hour, was at work 8-3 and spent a bit of time with friends when I picked DS2 up, who'd spent the day at their house. Since then I sorted some food, had a nap, fixed the fridge (new fuse), sold some cuddlies and accessories on preloved.com, gave a lift to DH and his friend and caught up with the thread. I've not crossed much of the list yet, but at the very least I want to do the DW/worksurfaces and maybe a couple of other bits. Hoping for an early night, too (that's anything before midnight in this house).

Belated happy birthday to Msgnomey - hope you had a lovely time.
JoJo - to both. You are remarkably calm, considering.

    Monday ~ Kitchen/Dining area
    Level One
    Sweep and mop floors
    Declutter and wipe worksurfaces
    Level Two
Scrub the fronts of units and large appliances
Wipe and replace the small appliances
Wipe table (that's in the DR of doom - no chance of getting it done today)
    Level Three
    Clean out a cupboard
Scrub the sink and shine the taps and tiles
    Clean out the fridge!

    Extras
    1. Wipe over oven and hob
    2. HHI
    My extras:
    [STRIKE]Cook tea
    Buy milk[/STRIKE]
Make a plan for this week
Phone my friend's daughter to sort out a present for her
[STRIKE]Get kids to pick up rubbish in the garden[/STRIKE]

School uniforms are unbelievable. Ours are allowed to take coats but they have nowhere to hang them up. Cloakrooms and lockers were given up on some time in the early nauties. Mine have to walk for 35 minutes to school and they freeze in winter and boil in summer as they aren't allowed to remove their blazers unless it's a zillion degrees as it "reflects badly on the school when they are seen in public".

I must share some of these comments at work next week. My school (and other local comps) have very basic uniform rules and can't even seem to enforce those. We must live in a very odd pocket of the country. Not that I would want to adopt some of those silly ideas about no coats/hats/scarves or choose an outrageously expensive outfit. That's just plain unreasonable. DS1's school tried to introduce something about coats a couple of years ago, but never got anywhere with it. Not a suprise, as he's hardly worn his tie since Y7 and he's been in black jeans for months now, without a complaint.

TBH one actually has broken springs and they are 12 yrs old and tatty (and chewed when SOME people weren't keeping an eye on gerbils) - I can do without people coming to look at them then turning their noses up at them...:o
so it WILL be decluttering somehow (see it is flying Toots;))

Why not put it out side with a sign saying 'for sale £xx' and see if it is taken. I know someone who put something out with a 'free' sign - the item didn't go, as soon as he put a 'for sale' sign by it someone took them (and didn't pay!).

I didn't manage any flying last week as I had a lousy cold which is still lingering on, also boiler gave up ghost and died on Friday. Fortunately we had already spoken to plumber about getting a new one and they are fitting it tomorrow. Had the system flushed out today and loads of gunk came out. Our plumber has told us to always make sure inhibitor is put in your central heating system and insist on seeing the container to make sure it has been put in, not putting it in is a cheap way unscrupulous plumbers can make £20 easily. I will be very pleased when heating is back on as I was cold at work today and even colder when I got home.

DD returned from a brilliant trip to China last week, she is now thinking where she can go to next - but will have to wait until after her graduation! As I will be at home tomorrow with the plumbers around I think I will be doing lots of flying and ironing - just to keep warm.

Happy birthday to those who are/have celebrated recently.:j
