Just reporting in on my dissertation decluttering. I have managed 786 words today, don't think I will make my 1000 word target for today but I am happy that it at least got me working. Realised what time it was at 6.30, still had to go for a run so we put potatoes in the oven and went, OH didn't do it all but enough to support me. Just had dinner, need to wash up and go shopping and my brain is fried hence the chance of not doing any more studying!!

I've done nothing of the list, my excuses are as follows

My brakes need to be done [pads and disks] and the Garage wanted £130 for this simple quick job, we don't have that kind of money to spare so next door but 1 neighbour had a friend round who was fixing a bit on his car so I cheekily went over and asked him if he could do brakes and if so would he be interested in doing mine, end result - brakes all done for £80, so saved £50 - go me, but cos I was feeling so ropey this morning I then got a bad headache so had to lay down on sofa for an hour. Then remembered that the kiddies do actually need to eat a meal occassionally but so didn't want to cook and we also needed food shopping to be done so combined a visit to MrS with a visit to MacD - terrible mother that I am!! But I felt a whole lot better for getting out and about for a little while.
Why is it that as soon as its time for bed my DD suddenly feels ill and wants me to spend time with her, she's been fine all day and now she's all grumpy cos its bedtime and she doesn't want to go up. When she's sorted out i'm going to do some of the list and maybe a little bit of ironing

Boddy - hope you enjoy your coffee and cake tomorrow

Toots - cool news about the feeding tube

    Rosepink - where are you?

  • Did a bit more of random throwing away, appliance cleaning and the like, but not enough for my star :( .

Went to have cuppa and check emails, to find one from DD2's secondary school's only outfitter. Everything other than underwear MUST now come from there on pain of immediate exclusion/instigation of local authority truancy policies. The school has now decided this year that the original requirements when they changed the uniform last summer weren't stringent enough and therefore, with immediate effect, the cost of compulsory items is £592 (plus food, specified hairbands, stationery and £80 contribution towards the school fund before musical instruments/tuition and other clubs!)

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

It's only a reasonable (well, it's not in special measures, at any rate, unlike the only other one in the area) comprehensive. The nearest private girls' school uniform is less than this!

As an aside, there was a comment on the uniform list as sent to them by the school 'we have found there is no interest in girls wearing trousers, therefore, no deviation from the compulsory uniform will be tolerated, irrespective of weather. We would also remind you that outdoor coats, hats or scarves are not allowed at any time to or from school.'

I must be the only cynical person around - I think girls should be able to wear trousers both for warmth and to make assault more difficult - as it it, with a pleated skirt, long socks and the particular style of shoes, they're dangerously close to looking like Japanese schoolgirl stereotype.

Oh well, never mind - KH2 has just returned a battered, scraped, bruised and generally mashed up DD2. She has apparently been training his boxer/bulldog cross to masquerade as a Huskie. Unfortunately, he understood Mush but not 'WHOA!!!!!'. She also claims that the car stopped just before it ran over her head, KH2 says the driver stopped to see if she was alright as she crashed her modified skateboard/sleigh combo. She looks like she's been bounced off the back of his motorbike!

Just as well I bought her favourite chocolate Gallettes today!

[think there will be little flying tomorrow for either of us]

Maybe have a word with the LEA see what they say?

Have managed some of my list today but weather has been far too nice to spend any longer inside than was necessary, spent the afternoon at the park with DD2 who made some friends so i had an hour reading (made the most of it as it doesnt happen often)

    Monday ~ Kitchen/Dining area
    Sweep and mop floors

    Clean out the fridge!

    Extras
    1. Declutter and wipe window sills
    2. Empty and wash out bins.. recycling, rubbish and compost! (inside bins not wheelies!!!!)
    3. HHI
Not too much left for tomorrow, I unfortunately need to find a WM repair man have googled for quick fixes and asked lots of questions but it seems that the filter may have been damaged and the machine is not draining as it should be, so thats on the list for tomorrow.

Toots - glad you have got the tube sorted and yes we did have a good break up north.

Heading for the bath with my book now (I have borrowed the twilight books from DD1 and as she is back on thursday i need to get them finished) will be back tomorrow.

JoJo - I may be completely mad but wasn't there some talk by the government about uniforms and that they had to be "non restricted" to a only 1 shop so that parents could be able to source cheaper uniforms and I also think that you can get some kind of grant from your local council for uniform - someone more qualified than me will come along and correct me if I'm talking out of my bottom!! And surely they can not tell you what your child can wear outside of the school and for that matter what happens when its winter and they have outside play in the freezing cold - can they not wear a coat or gloves etc then - blimey I'm getting angry for you, let me at them
