I changed jobs in March and now work for a company about 1.5 miles from my house, in a heavily wooded area and discovered to my delight it is overrun with wild rasps and brambles - had enough of the former to make 9lb of rasp jam and the latter are coming along nicely and should be ready in a few weeks - we are in NE Scotland so may be rather behind the rest of you.
Between this and fact that this job provides FREE coffee (last job had vending machine at 20p/cup), I am saving a fortune!! Also no sandwich man or shops nearby thus forcing me to take own lunch so even better.0 -

I freeze them in large ice cube trays (just pop them out of the tray once solid and keep in bags to free up your tray again) then I can add what I want to natural yogurts etc during the year.0 -
Hi
I have found a Walnut tree and was wondering if I have to do anything to the nuts before I eat them, because when I tried them they tasted like horse chestnuts without taking the yellow skin off first

I eat them straight off the tree, and save any extras for home.
............This year has been FANTASTIC for mushrooms (best I've seen for a very long time). All this past week, there have been far too many to pick each day. Our local park is full of massive field mushrooms at the moment. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

There are a few of us around here that pick walnuts each year. On a good year, we often take a few bags up the pub to share around. These normally get eaten straight away at the bar. I've tried walnuts from loads of different trees, and they taste of walnuts to me (they're lovely when fresh). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I make wine with the ones I collect. Tis nice stuff!
Same here...at least that's what I hope it will be. Threw berry juice + yeast + sugar into a tub and stretched a pair of tights over the top to stop yucky stuff getting in. Still looks and smells ok. How often should I be adding more sugar?0
